Roseann Sdoia, a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing, will come to An Unlikely Story to talk about how being in the wrong place at the worst time can lead to unexpectedly beautiful things, how traumas in our lives can lead to the most life-affirming moments, the biggest adventures, and the most important relationships. Her new book, Perfect Strangers is about recovery, about choosing joy and human connection over anger and resentment, and most of all, it's about an unlikely but enduring friendship that grew out of the tragedy of Boston's worst day. Kym recommends:
Monique Grant is unexpectedly asked to write an article about Hollywood film legend Evelyn Hugo, and the donation of her gowns for cancer research. However, it's
not an article Evelyn wants her to write, it's her biography detailing her seven marriages, and which, if any, of her husbands was the love of her life, and is a very different story from the one known to the public. It is heartbreaking at times, and so real that it's hard to remember that Evelyn was not actually a real film goddess.
Colleen recommends:
This felt to me like a big-kid picture book. It's ridiculous, adorable, and a little dark. It's impossible not to fall in love with Jomny and the world he's created. Anyone looking for a laugh, please read! It's one of the funniest books I've ever read.
