6th Annual Dig Pink Volleyball Fundraiser

Our students are very happy when there are tea and snacks available in the Wellness Center! Cash for College Workshops
The State sponsors California Cash for College workshops in January and February where you'll not only get help completing your FAFSA and other forms, but students can also enter a drawing for a $1,000 scholarship. One scholarship is offered at each workshop held across the state!

College Rep Visits for Seniors (and Juniors, if space is available) 
Students must have their teacher's permission one day in advance if missing class. Pick up a form in the C&CC, or download it at admit-class-form-college-and-career-center . Bring the signed form the day of the visit to ensure the absence from class is cleared and marked as an activity rather than a truancy. Additional accounts of the dyslexic experience from children, experts, and iconic leaders at the top of their fields help us to understand that dyslexia, a persistent problem with reading, can be both a gift and an obstacle.  Discussion and Q&A following the film. Stanford's Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research (CIBSR) Social Skills Study NEW

 

CIBSR is recruiting for a Social Skills study and is looking for boys aged 8-18 with a developmental or intellectual disability to take part in a research study investigating the effect of behavioral training methods on duration of social gaze. Participation includes a visit to Stanford for 3-4 days, cognitive testing, two optional MRI scans, and social skills training with a behaviorist. Community Meeting on Stanford University's General Use Permit NEW

 Santa Clara County has released the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for development proposed by Stanford University. There will be a public meeting in Palo Alto in the Palo Alto City Council Chambers to discuss the application and solicit public comment and feedback on the proposal. The community meeting will serve as an opportunity to hear about the proposed development and the process for reviewing it, including the opportunity for public engagement. It will also be a forum for the community to offer comments for consideration in the Final EIR. County Planning staff will also be on hand to describe the application, explain the process, and answer questions.

Basketball Coaches Needed NEW

 

The City of Palo Alto is looking for basketball coaches for the 7th and 8th grade season. Practices are Monday-Thursday, with Friday's being optional. Practices run for 90 minutes and can fall between the hours of 3:15-7:30. Games for B teams are all played in Palo Alto at our 3 middle schools, while the A teams play games from Palo Alto to Half Moon Bay. Pay is negotiable depending on experience, and volunteers are strongly encouraged and greatly appreciated. The City of Palo Alto is looking for coaches who can commit to their practice and game schedule, and who are dedicated to advancing these athletes skills on and off the court. Festival in Palo Alto the weekend of October 21-22 on the theme of the "Oneness of Humankind."  Events include a Children's Festival in Mitchell Park on October 21st from 10a-1p featuring live musical and artistic performances, storytelling and activity booths; a Performing Arts Show at Sofia University October 21st from 7-9p featuring a diversity of dance and musical performance by local artists, and an art exhibition.  Events are free and all are welcome.

Do You Know a Child Who Loves to Sing? Auditions Open Now for the 2017-18 Season of Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley

 

Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley serves the youth of Silicon Valley with 23 years of choral music instruction and performance excellence.  Auditions are now open for our 2017-2018 Season. 

Cantabile singers which also includes PAUSD students, ages 4-18, enjoy weekly rehearsals, seasonal concerts, participation in the annual Cantabile Festival for Young Voices and domestic and international tours.  Cantabile Youth Singers offers a Training Division based on skill level and age: three levels of Preparatory Classes for students ages 4-9 and a fun and high-energy Intermediate Choir for students ages 9-12. Our Performance Division has four senior choirs: Ensemble , for young people ages 12-15 and Vocalise, Cantabile's most advanced group for youth aged 14-18. Cantabile has a Young Men's Division that supports boys' voice change (Bravi and Vocal Training Group) and an A Cappella girls' ensemble, Aria.Training Division Demo classes are held in August and January and auditions are held by appointment throughout each semester.
