Tell us what you think about the draft centers proposal
Centers are the foundation of the region's growth strategy. They are places where new housing and jobs will grow and contribute to active, vital communities well-connected by transportation. The Growth Management Policy Board is looking for public comments on a draft centers proposal that includes expectations for regional centers and manufacturing/industrial centers, recognition of military installations, and more. The comment period runs until November 8. Your feedback will help the growth board develop its final recommendation to the Executive Board.

REGION GEARS UP TO BUILD EQUITABLE TRANSIT COMMUNITIES

On Thursday I gave welcoming remarks at the Building Transit, Building Opportunity event at Plaza Roberto Maestas near the Beacon Hill light rail station. We had a great turnout with enthusiastic local government and transit agency representatives, advocates, housing developers and many others from all around the region attending. Mayor Marilyn Strickland gave a fantastic keynote address on Tacoma's experiences with community building, including working to address the complex needs of people who are homeless. This important work to make the most of transit investments and expand opportunity will continue to be front and center as the region begins planning for 2050.

GRAND AVENUE PARK BRIDGE BREAKS GROUND IN EVERETT

Everett kicked off their Grand Avenue Park Bridge project at a ceremony on October 10. The new bridge will carry drainage and sewer pipelines across a steep slope, the railroad tracks and West Marine View Drive. It will offer spectacular views and connect Grand Avenue Park to the waterfront. PSRC provided $2 million to the project. The Everett website has illustrations of what the new bridge will look like after it's complete.

I welcome your feedback on our work at PSRC. You can reach me at jbrown@psrc.org .
