As we prepare for the Holidays

In preparation for the High Holidays, we are looking to assemble a crew to clean and polish all the many adornments on all our Torahs.  It will take place on Sunday, August 27th at 10:30 am.

All it takes is a few hours of your time. Some people find it both a relaxing experience as well as a quiet time to shmooze with the rest of the volunteers.

Please RSVP to Jonathan Cohen at  [email protected] or call the synagogue office at 504-889-1144

Sisterhood Class
SISTERHOOD CLASS BEGINS SEPTEMBER 6!

Our Wednesday Sisterhood class will begin again on Wednesday, September 6 at 10am.  There are only 2 classes before the High Holydays begin.  We will spend them finishing Rabbi Joseph Telushkin's book, Words that Hurt, Words that Heal.

I hope you have been able to read the whole book over the break.  In the first class we will hold a discussion based on the questions below; in the second, I will bring us a piece by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks to explore in the context of the book as a whole.  Please come to the first class prepared with answers to the following questions:

What was the most important piece of new information you learned from the book?

Was there any aspect of the book's content you found problematic or challenging?

Name up to three ways you will take the lessons of this book into your life.

I look forward very much to seeing you on September 6 th!

Warmly
RDS
