ART - Accelerated Retail Technologies
John Murn purchased the assets of AVT Inc. and has launched Accelerated Retail Techologies.
John Murn, president of both RSA Management Group and the New York State Automatic Vending Association, has launched a vending equipment and technology company after purchasing the assets of AVT Inc., which filed for bankruptcy protection in May of 2015.

In his role with RSA Management Group, Murn had overseen the management of vending contracts that included AVT machines. RSA Management Group managed the LA Fitness management contract for AVT, which included combination beverage and snack machines.

He estimated RSA Management Group is currently overseeing the management of about 300 AVT machines.
Murn's new company, Accelerated Retail Technologies (ART), has a manufacturing facility in Corona, Calif. and is working on enhancing AVT's technology. The company will provide replacement parts for existing AVT machines. He estimated there are around 5,000 AVT machines in operation, including about 3,000 H.U.M.A.N. Healthy Vending branded machines.

Shannon Illingworth AVT now ART
AVT founder Shannon Illingworth has joined a new company.
Shannon Illingworth, founder of AVT Inc., has joined a newly-formed automated retailing equipment and technology company. AVT Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection in May of 2015 and its assets were purchased tis past June by John Murn.
Illingworth said he and a team of engineers formed AR Systems to focus on technology. Industry consultant and kiosk veteran Trevor Owen has been named company president.

Illlingworth said the company, based in Corona, Calif., is getting its equipment from Jofemar, a vending equipment manufacturer based in Spain.

The company is testing 20 to 30 machines and plans to launch Jan. 1, 2017. The machines will be PCI- and EMV-compliant. "We've been in the process of developing our back-end management system," he said.

"The focus is not manufacturing; it's more design integration and fusing technology into these boxes so to speak to give it more of a user experience of purchasing," he said.

SociaVend Technology
SocialVend rewards consumers for social engagement.

SocialVend, a London-based company, recently introduced the vendmini to the U.S., a socially activated vending machine with a small footprint for marketing campaigns, in-store sampling and promotional giveaways. 

Detecting social actions across channels determined by the brand, the system rewards consumers in return for their social engagement.

"To trigger a vend, our clever little machines prompt users to post to social media with their mobile devices using the brand's hashtag, as our system constantly scours social networks for uses of the brand's hashtag and matches the posts with the user at the machine, rewarding them with a physical gift for their social action," explained SocialVend co-founder Andrew Theodore. 

To ensure each execution is on brand, the machines can be wrapped in graphics and have a fully customizable software interface. It can be filled with product samples, promotional giveaways, gift cards and the like. In addition, a brand team can run surveys and data capture generating market research and marketing data.

Lane Jumper Technology

LightSpeed Automation has integrated with Lane Jumper, a self-checkout mobile payment and product management system for micro market operators.
