Week of Respect 2017
October 2nd-6th

Week of Respect provides an excellent opportunity to kick-start year-long campaigns, school assemblies and service learning projects! The Center has provided daily themes, social media posts and projects that are easy for schools to replicate in Sussex County during Week of Respect. The overall theme is kindness, as that is a key component to building and supporting a positive school climate. There are many ways to accomplish this goal, including being kind and caring to other students and staff. Being kind can also relate to showing kindness to the environment, a school or a community. This year as we celebrate Week of Respect, keep this theme in mind throughout this exciting week.

Remember to send us pictures of what your students and staff are doing as we will be sending out daily emails to highlight your success! Share your photos with us on social media by using #Kindness365, we look forward to using this all year long!

Respect for Others

To promote respect for others teach your students about Random Acts of Kindness. These simple tasks including smiling at someone, giving someone a compliment, visiting a sick friend or sharing a snack with someone. All are easy and quick to complete. Recognize students for their acts of kindness by creating a kindness chain or certificates. Need help coming up with some random acts of kindness projects? Own a Zone

Bullying is a serious problem that can happen anywhere. This act of unkindness can happen in any school. Have your students learn to not only respect each other but the building they spend much of their time in. Assign different grade levels or classrooms to different areas of the school to assist in cleaning and making it more beautiful.
