On November 11, 1919 President Woodrow Wilson set aside a day to be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service, and with gratitude for the victory both because of the thing from which it freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the council of nations.

Veterans Day has become a holiday to remember all who have served in the Armed Forces of our country.

The U.S.S. Wainwright Veteran's Association Board of Directors would like to wish you a very happy Veterans Day and ask you to take a moment to remember those that have served the cause of freedom in the world along with our shipmates who answered our great nations call to serve.
