Come one, come all! The Men's Club will be cooking up a storm for the first day of Religious School in our courtyard. We will need men to come and set up, cook on the grill and clean up. Moving the Bimah, Sunday, September 10, 1:00 pm

Have you ever wondered how the Bimah moves to its new location for the High Holidays? This year you can find out and help us move it! We need a group of people to help the Cantor move the Bimah on Sunday, September 10 at 1:00 pm . All you need to bring is yourself and be willing to help push a big object. We can also use help moving chairs if you can't bend.

We will also need volunteers to help us set up the prayer books for the services. This will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 16 and 23 after Torah Study.  Remember our ancestors carried the Ark for 40 years in a desert.  All we need is a few hours of your time in an air conditioned building. Thank you in advance for helping us prepare for the Holidays.

Calling Our Teen Singers for the High Holy Days!

From Cantor Sobel:  "As many of you know, we introduced a new family service format last year featuring modern music with a backup band. This year we would like to build on that success by adding a group of teen singers (post bar/bat mitzvah through high school) to add to the ruach (spirit) and positive energy of those services. The main requirement is that you want to sing and are willing and available to sing at the family HH days services on the day of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur as follows:

Rosh Hashanah Family service - Thursday, Sept 21,12:00 noon -1:15 pm
Yom Kippur Family service - Saturday, Sept 30, 12:00 noon -1:15 pm

Rehearsals begin Saturday, September 2, at 10:00 am. "If you are interested, please let me know at [email protected]."

From Nancy Altchiler, Synagogue Liaision: "What a difference a year makes!  We're so proud of how we've changed lives with Connecticut's first "Household Model" nursing home (The Jewish Home).  Consistent with Jewish values and traditions, the Mission of Jewish Senior Services ® is to assure Jewish seniors the health care, housing and geriatric services required to achieve the highest possible quality of life reasonably attainable for them.
