Introduction to Christian Meditation
Have you ever wondered what meditation is and its Christian history? Why is it important? How do you practice it? We will explore these questions and more as we discuss and practice common meditation practices each week. This class will help us dive deep into our practice of Christianity and help to transform our souls from the inside out.   Tuesdays, thru  Nov.  21 at 6:30pm & Wednesdays, thru  Nov. 15 at 10:00am  *The class is offered twice weekly, you pick the day that works for you*

Feeding God's Family - "If you love me, feed my sheep" Here at St. James, we eat together weekly, not just on Sunday mornings at Jesus's table, but on Wednesday nights too. We seek folks who can help host simple meals on Wednesday nights-for choir, youth group, and Bible study-as well as those who are new to our communal life. Contact Mother Sarah to help: [email protected].

Come for Dinner, Stay for the Dance Party
If you're into fun on Wednesday nights, come for dinner at church. Food is served at 5:15pm. If you're REALLY looking for a good time, stay on for Mother Sarah's dish-drying dance party, in the kitchen from 6:30-7:30pm. This weekly event is good if you're looking for volunteer hours, a chance to meet fellow parishioners, or an informal setting in which to get to know our new associate rector. All are welcome!

Thanks to The Comptons for hosting this week's community dinner.

Thanks to all who helped with our outdoor service and parish picnic. It was a wonderful day of sharing food, fellowship, bouncing and honey bees.

Thanks, also to our super hard working gardening angels, Anne and Bert Clark and family for readying the garden's for Ian Moore's Eagle Scout planting project. They have dug, pulled, raked, weeded, heaved and hoed.

During the first few months after a natural disaster, prayers and financial donations are of great importance. You may give to
Episcopal Relief and Development at www.episcopalrelief.org . By next spring, when locations move into the recovery stage our hands will be needed. If you would be interested in a mission trip please let Dottie Evans know [email protected] or 785-341-4532

ST. NICHOLAS BAZAAR
December 10th
  • Cookbooks - You know you've been planning on sorting through those shelves, now is the time to do it! Please leave your donated Cookbooks on the stage in the Guild Hall. The money raised for these wonderful books goes to The Episcopal Church Periodical Club. The money is used to help churches who need Bibles and Prayer Books, or Sunday School supplies. After the hurricanes in Texas and Florida and Puerto Rico there will be a great need in the Episcopal churches in those areas. The money is also given to seminarians to help them pay for text books.
  • Your home-made arts and crafts - This year the Bazaar will be December 10th during Breakfast Sunday. We have had knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, jewelry, crosses, crocheted prayer bracelets, tree ornaments, stuffed toys, and any other thing you made or think somebody made. Call Beth Criss if you have questions, 682-3748 or [email protected].

"Out of Shadow, Into Light: Christian Commemoration of Saints & Souls in the Liturgical Year":  Ever wondered how traditions sprung up around All Hallows' Eve, All Saints' Day, and All Souls' Day? Word for the Week ~ Meaning
If your former experience of "God" no longer has enough meaning for you, if it's too small, too pedestrian, too local - then translate it. Find some new language to speak out of the depths of your life. Get in touch with the source of being which is your ultimate concern; get in touch with what you take seriously and without reservation.
