Austin P. in Ms. Parish's 2nd grade class is this week's First Class Student. Austin always comes to school with a positive attitude. He follows classroom procedures and even does so with a smile. Austin puts in his best effort for every subject and it shows in his work. Austin is a great role model, showing others the Plat Panther Way. He is a kind friend and is always willing to help others. Room 116 would not be the same without him!!
The students of the Richfield School District can expect an exciting year of classroom guidance lessons aligned with the Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model. I will enter each classroom following a rotating, weekly schedule. Students will be actively engaged in lessons that promote and enhance positive character traits while working together as team members to accomplish common learning goals. I have divided the classroom guidance curriculum into five sections in a manner that ensures all students receive a thorough guidance curriculum that meets the standards set in place for Wisconsin schools.

September and October : Empathy, Social Skills Enhancement, along with Peer Pressure and Avoidance Strategies and Effective Conflict Resolution Techniques

November and December : Goal Setting, Interest and Strength Awareness, along with Academic and Career Planning and Learning Style Exploration

January and February : Effective Decision Making and Mindfulness, with an Emphasis on Inclusion of All and Acceptance of Differences
March and April : Protective Behaviors, Character Education Enhancement and Self-Acceptance, along with Gratitude and Confidence Building

May and June : Healthy Lifestyles, along with Teamwork, Honesty, Self-Respect, and Determination

Please contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. I look forward to working with all of your children. Thank you for all you do for them each and every day and for allowing us to work with them.
