Register Now for the Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race
The
Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race, underwritten by
Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, kicks off the Seacoast's premier autumn street festival on Saturday, October 7th. The 5K Road Race starts on River Street and ends on Washington Street in downtown Dover. The USTAF certified course runs directly through the Apple Harvest Day festival site on Washington Street and Central Avenue, and then winds through historic Dover on a rolling course that is suitable for beginner runners and walkers, as well as advanced racers. The first 250 runners to register will receive a free t-shirt!

5th Annual Dover Mini Maker Faire

It's finally here!
This Saturday we welcome over 65 Makers and Food Vendors into downtown Dover! We'll have pirates, ice cream made with liquid nitrogen, 3 oz pours of beer from 7th Settlement, live music, a video game trailer, fun with clay, a beekeeper, lego robots, student robots, professionally built robots, face painting, mac n' cheese pies, fusion food, cupcakes, Raspberry Pi, screen printing, arts and crafts, coffee tasting, a solar-powered car, comic workshops, a chance to talk to a satellite, fairy house building, egg drop challenges and SO MUCH MORE!

Cannons and Tamiya Velociraptors Oh My!
Saturday, August 26th, 10am-4pm
Henry Law Park, Dover
Dover's own Woodman Museum is partnering with Elite Hobby at Dover Mini Makers Faire. Highlighting the natural and historical nature of the treasures inside the museum. Visitors to the Woodman Museum/Elite Hobby booth at the event will help build and paint 20 1/35 scale Tamiya Velociraptors using acrylic water based paint under the supervision of Modeler Gary Armitage of Elite Hobbies & Models. We will also do a secondary concurrent event by finishing a 28mm model of the HMS Sophie from Master and Commander showing the Carronade displayed at the Woodman Museum. Limited to children 7 Years and Up for painting. 8 years and up for building. Goal is Fun and not work of art! Great Mom, Dad and the Kids type event.

Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Dover

The Downtown Walking Tours will leave from the Chamber parking lot, proceeding through the downtown area including narratives outlining the early settlement period through the manufacturing period which began its demise in 1896. Tours begin at the Chamber Visitor Center at
10:30 a.m. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling

Where Fire Meets Form Tuesdays 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Aug. 1-Sept. 26
We will focus on elements of craft, such as scene, characterization, dialogue, narrative voice, point-of-view, and more. I will incorporate writing exercises and prompts, and we will engage in lively discussions that will provide you with the tools needed to bring your stories to fruition. In this workshop, we will also address the writing process itself, including revision and editing, and I will offer strategies and tips to help you meet your writing goals, and resources for submitting work for publication. Writers of all levels and backgrounds are welcome.
Hone Your Craft: A Writing Workshop Wednesdays 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Aug. 2-Sept. 27
In this course, we will focus on elements of craft, such as scene, characterization, dialogue, narrative voice, point-of-view, sensory detail, and more. In addition to studying craft and technique, we will carve out extra time for all participants' pages to be read in this comfortable, supportive setting. We will place an emphasis on close, active reading of one another's work, and we will study what it means to read like writers.
