OUR GOOD SAMARITANS
On Monday after practices, four of our students witnessed a horrible accident on Union Avenue and stopped to render assistance. Lauren Riggan, Taylor Riggan and Danielle Lacayo were headed home from cheer practice and William Cross was headed home from Water Polo practice.  They all witnessed a pedestrian being forcibly hit by a car on Union Avenue.  Although they were in separate cars, they all stopped to see if they could help while others drove by.  They stayed at the scene until help arrived. Will remained calm and took charge. He stopped traffic, had a bystander call 911, had another bystander put their flashers on to slow traffic, and went to the side of the gentleman who was hit.  But, most importantly, held the injured man's hand to try and offer him some comfort.  Will kept everyone calm, including a lady and her two young children.  He led the group in prayer and suggested they pray over the gentleman as he was being put into the ambulance.  The gentleman passed away from his injuries. On Wednesday after Mass, Msgr. Perry Kavookjian presented the Will, Danielle, Taylor, and Lauren with a St. Jude medal to commend them on being good Samaritans.  St. Jude is the patron saint of difficult circumstances.
GARCES PLAYERS
This year's Fall play was "Leaving Iowa" and it was a big hit with the crowd. The play was about reminiscing about family vacations and all the typical conversations that occur - such as "don't make me pull over" or "where are we?" or "I will stop this car right now". And of course all the eye-rolling when the family picture taker wants one more photo to remember the trip. Ultimately, the play is about how a family loves each other and how often they realize almost too late how much all those trips, family car ride disagreements, and endless photos are a precious commodity.

The student participants were: James Castanares, Nick Oh, Anthony Fajardo, Alfred AbgayanI, Allyson Dunlavey, Alex Penner, Anna Rinaldi, Ashley Ruiz, Daniella Vargas, Faraaz Hasta, Karly Clanton-Maddox, Maria Delgado, Michael-Ted Acosta, Olivia Wooner, Savannah Nyagwachi, Andrew Orozco, Elizabeth Nuarez, Gabriel Beltran, Jenysa Patterson, Jorden Inocentes, Monica Urias and Sarai Chocpteco.
