THIS WEEK
Proclaimers' Formation Session for Lectors and Cantors
Saturday, October 14, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., lunch to follow
All lectors and cantors and those interested in proclaiming the Word of God in worship are invited and highly encouraged to attend this formation session. Led by Nathan Costa, director of music and liturgy, and experienced proclaimers, we'll explore sacred texts and learn and share how we can best prepare and bring the Word of God to life in the midst of our congregation each week. We will have opportunity to practice and video-record our work and to receive generous feedback from one another. This is a good time for newcomers and young people to begin work in this ministry. A lunch in thanksgiving for this ministry will follow on the patio. Contact Nathan Costa for more information.

An Alternative Orthodoxy: The Legacy of St. Francis
Sundays, September 17-October 15, 9 a.m., South Parish Hall
Join us as Franciscan friar and celebrated author Fr. Richard Rohr leads us in an examination of the teachings of St. Francis that will go well beyond his love of animals. During this series, Fr. Rohr introduces us to an alternative orthodoxy rooted in Franciscan theology and practice, that is both biblically grounded, but largely lost on contemporary Christianity.

This final week of the series looks at Mysticism Over Moralism.
Watch a Past 9am Forum Online!
We'd like to see you at the 9am Forum every Sunday morning! But if you miss a week, you can watch it on YouTube any time, day or night.
CHILDREN'S FORMATION
Give your Time and Smile to Sunday School!
No experience? No problem! Teaching sound scary? That's ok! We are in need of doorpersons in all of our classrooms. The only requirement is that all volunteers complete Safeguarding God's People training as a part of Safe Church practice. There is no greater gift you can give a child than your presence. We would love to have you. Contact Alex Howard, Children's Minister, to volunteer.
Sunday School
Sundays, 10 a.m., Education Building
Classes meet during the school year, September through early June.  Lessons are generally lectionary based for Preschool-aged and we also celebrate special holidays and events from the church calendar. Kindergarteners through 3rd Graders enjoy Godly Play, while 4th and 5th Graders adventure through the Bible starting with the Old Testament and then the New Testament.
Nursery Care
Sundays, 8:30-11:30 a.m., Education Building
Nursery Care is available every Sunday for newborns to 3 years old, free of charge. Our nursery staff are professional preschool teachers who have passed a background check and completed child safety training.

Celebrate Mother Mary Lynn and David
"I am overjoyed to announce that my fiancé David and I are engaged to be married on October 14. Our closest family and friends will join us at Camp Stevens in Julian that weekend for a small ceremony in the outdoor chapel. We are excited to celebrate with our St. Bart's family after the 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday, November 5 - please join us! Instead of gifts, we would welcome donations in honor of our marriage to St. Bart's partner school in Loranette, Haiti to pay for school uniforms. Thank you for continuing to support me in my ministry, and David and I in our new life together."
~Mtr. Mary Lynn
Choral Evensong
Sunday, November 5, 4 p.m.
Choral Evensong is often called one of the great treasures of the Anglican tradition. A fusion of the ancient monastic evening prayers (Vespers and Compline), Evensong is a quiet service of reflection, song, and prayer at the close of the day led by the choir. We will celebrate Choral Evensong (and other special services, such as Advent Lessons and Carols) on the first Sunday of each month, October through June, followed by a light reception hosted by parishioners.
Music by W. H. Harris, George Dyson, and Geraint Lewis.
