Post- Easter Message

There is a great sense of peace following the celebration of Christ's rising. As always, all of you pull together in such an amazing and glorifying way.. It feels like we have just come out of the wonder of the incarnation at Advent, and here we are in the fullness of that revealing in the post Easter season.

I cannot begin to express the peace and joy of the Easter Vigil. It seemed that the sanctuary was immersed with His deep love. Such sense of Divine mystery is only possible when we stop and listen- and wait with Christ through the night.

As you enter a new season of peace, I pray with all my heart that you will receive direction and clarity in your forward journey. It is said that good connections are made for "a reason, a season, and a lifetime." Our connection fits the first two categories, for sure.

I continue to be privileged to serve you here in mid- season of your church family life. There are so many signs of new growth here- three baptisms on Easter Sunday- and more coming.

People continue to come into new positions of leadership and pastoral responsibility. Thanks be to God who graces us to serve. Looking forward to the dance again this Sunday!

In faith for a better world,

Rev. Jackie

PRESBYTERY REPRESENTATIVE NEEDED.....Can you help?

EMUC is looking for 1 or 2 people to represent EMUC at Presbytery meetings once a month for 8-9 months of the year.  The meetings are held the 4th Tuesday evening of the month at various local churches within Presbytery.  Two people could share the work and attendance at the meetings.  One person has volunteered, we just need one more.  If you are interested in this position, speak to Sandy Hayes or Barb Jennings. It is important that EMUC be represented at Presbytery.

NEW FUNDRAISING PROGRAM
The Leadership Circle has been exploring fundraising programs in order to support the work of Erin Mills United.  We have registered to be part of FUNDSCRIP, an innovative program that asks you to purchase gift cards in order to pay for regular items you buy every month.  A percentage of the cards we purchase through FUNDSCRIP is donated back to our church.  This means that just by paying for your groceries and gas with gift cards you can generate funds for our church on a monthly basis.  You don't have to change where you shop, what you buy and it doesn't cost you anything extra.

Order forms for gift cards will be available the last Sunday of every month. The next order date is Apr 30.  Simply fill out the order form for the gift cards you would like, hand it in with cash or a cheque payable to Erin Mills United Church. Your order will be placed and delivered back to the church the following week.  Please see the display board at the back of the church or speak to Joanne Hines if you have any questions about the program.  We are excited to have your support for this new initiative.

Deacon's Cupboard
On behalf of the guests of the Deacon's Cupboard, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support.  Your gifts of food items and money allow us to continue to  provide this much needed assistance to our community. During this Easter season, please keep the cupboard and its guests in your thoughts and prayers.

At Canada's 150th year, Centennial Park was opened in 1967 to celebrate Canada's 100th birthday. The land the park now occupies was once a dairy farm.
During the hike we'll also have opportunity to visit the three greenhouses at the Centennial Park Conservatory*.
*Among the highlights are permanent collections of plants from around the world. Visitors can enjoy tropical plants that bloom year-round, unusual fruit trees such as sour sop and papaya, and a great collection of cacti.
