Commissioner Hutchinson Selects Aspen Romeyn to Serve on Wake County Affordable Housing Committee
Durham, N.C. Aspen Romeyn, a Planner II for Triangle J's Regional Planning Department has been chosen by Commissioner Sig Hutchinson to represent the organization on Wake County's Affordable Housing Committee. Affordable housing has been identified as a pressing issue for Wake County, along with many other counties and jurisdictions in the region. The supply of affordable housing is not growing fast enough for the area's demand. The committee will meet regularly to assess affordable housing developments and leverage resources from a wide group of organizations. The first meeting will be held sometime in December.

Aspen has been a strong advocate for affordable housing in the Triangle J region and will be a great asset to the committee. Most notably, she helped plan and organize the Triangle Regional Housing Summit on September 20, 2016, in partnership with the Federal Reserve of Richmond, FDIC, and Enterprise Community Investments. The event brought together a unique and diverse group of elected officials, regional organizations and affordable housing advocates in the community. The panels and discussions covered challenges & opportunities, financing strategies, and unique solutions to housing in the Triangle. Prior to her work at TJCOG, Aspen received a Master of City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a specialization in housing and community development.
