October 12, 2017

Our second grade is just moving in to their preparation for the sacraments this year. Reconciliation and First Eucharist is the pinnacle of their religious training this year. We work as a parish program so our school children experience retreats throughout the season of preparation. Sunday Mass attendance is important because it is setting the groundwork for understanding our Eucharistic celebration as well as instilling the importance of weekly worship. It's sad to here how outside obligations are squeezing family worship opportunities aside. As a child's first and most important teacher, parents have an awesome responsibility to lead their children in their faith development. With so many Mass times available, surely one fits even the busiest schedules?

October is one of the months that we remember the Blessed Virgin. Mrs. Radish, middle school teacher, has a robust group of students who attend Rosary Club in the Community Room. There are over 70 participating middle schoolers who pray the rosary together once a month. How many schools can claim this special devotion?
Mother Mary is close to us at St. Al's.

Calendar Change: Please mark Monday, January 15th (Martin Luther King Day) as a half-day off rather than Tuesday, January 16th.

Hand in Hand in Education,

Mrs. Wadzinski
Reminder!! No school tomorrow (10/13) or Monday (10/16).
Have a nice weekend!
SAVE THE DATE
The Valuing Virtues team is sponsoring a speaker on November 29th. Taylor Jannsen is an author, motivational speaker and basketball trainer. He comes to us highly recommended. He will have time with each grade level during the day and speak to the parents at 6:30. Please mark your calendar for this must attend event!!! Look for more information in the weeks to come.
LOST AND FOUND!!
We still have several lost items that would like to find their way back home.
All items not claimed by the end of each month will be donated to charity.
If your student is missing something, please have them stop by the lost and found box in the room next to the health room. Here are the items (top left is a hooded, zippered navy uniform sweater):
