Welcome inventors, innovators, artists and engineers!
Every month we discuss the most important things inventors need to know.
Come to our meetings and learn about inventing, innovating and the process of bringing new products to market. Prepare your questions about inventing and ask local experts at Thursdays meeting.
Bring your idea and see how the attendees react!
You will either save money or make money by being sure your idea is customer ready first.
Hear and learn about important topics to help you prepare for launching your venture.

SDIF is a fabulous resource for inventors, and it just wouldn't be possible without our sponsors. These are people who are often inventors themselves who provide services to our members. Please check them out below.
SDIF monthly meetings are the ideal place to get help on all aspects of inventing as well as make new contacts. Unlike other inventors' organizations, we have no costly annual dues or membership requirements. All you need is a desire to learn about the world of inventing and to network with like-minded people. Whether you're an inventor, innovator or a service provider, SDIF is the place to be the second Thursday of each month!" Judy B.

Thanks to Michele Nash-Hoff and Sidney Wildesmith for helping at Maker Faire 2017!
Makers Faire this weekend was a blast!
I was quite proud to represent all these groups that help inventors I am part of and support.
Best part of the event was the kids.
The ones that had interest in inventing were a delight to hear as they expressed their ideas with unbridled enthusiasm.
I taught them the left side/right side method to journal their ideas and all got an I-Tv flyer and invite to attend SDIF meetings. I applauded the parents and encouraged them to continue supporting their kids creative side and education in STEAM. Parents were beaming with pride. Kids were really excited to talk with an inventor and learn more. The sad part was the few parents that tore their inquisitive kid away telling them "this isn't for you, come on lets go".
Dozens of patent discussions. People that knew about A.I.A. agreed wholeheartedly with our messages and agreed to sign the petition. Those new to the problems were appalled, shocked and some horrified once they learned what A.I.A is doing. Some people had a little knowledge and asked great questions. Only one negative reaction from someone that did not believe patents were a good thing.
All in all a great event.
Looking forward to doing it again next year.

Inventors rally against PTAB's at the USPTO makes world news!
|
US Inventor's rally and protest of the patent law changes that are hurting American inventors at the USPTO in DC gained world attention!
Full coverage:
Thanks to Michael Caputo for adding his voice.
Burning our patents in front of the USPTO demonstrated our anger and frustrations at seeing what was once the best patent system in the world go to #10. We are mad seeing issued patents reversed by PTAB rulings.
We are infuriated with the outcomes of A.I.A.
We demand our rights!
Save the American Inventor.
Stand with us and help make US patents great again.
Strong Patents = Strong Economy!
USI
Help protect inventor rights, please support our efforts to keep patents property rights as written in our Constitution Article 1, Section 8, Clause 8
"To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries" .
This is the only place in the constitution the word "right" is used.
It was that important then and it even more today.
Stop mega-corps from stealing our rights.
Thank you for your support!
Relaunching this campaign to rally at the SCOTUS next month:

Our very own Brent Estep and family were selected as contestants in this seasons filming of Make 48. We are looking forward to seeing it on air.
Mean while lets hope Brent's family wins!!
"Family team Inventor Maniacs from California is made up of dad Brent, mom Michelle and son Kyle (photobomber not included). Brent is a part-time inventor who has spent his whole life pursuing getting something on the market. He is an out of the box thinker and a jack of all trades. He has lived in San Diego, Ca his whole life, has 5 siblings, and 2 young children of his own. He enjoys the challenge of making something from scratch and fixing things, and is excited about this great opportunity to learn, grow and be challenged in a way he has never been challenged before.
Michelle is Brent's wife of 18 years. She is a nurse at a local San Diego, Ca hospital and has worked in all aspects of nursing over the past 30 years. She has enjoyed seeing Brent evolve over the years with his countless inventions and looks forward to this exciting adventure. Michelle loves anything creative and spends her free time digital scrapbooking and loves taking and enjoying pictures. Kyle is Brent and Michelle's 11 year old son. Kyle is in 6th grade and has grown up in San Diego. He has always enjoyed science and math in school. Brent has fostered Kyle's love of science by participating heavily in Kyle's elementary school's science team and has helped his dad create many interesting and involved science "inventions". Kyle is also looking forward to this exciting adventure!"

Video from our friend Josh Malone about the US Inventor Petition
|
Fellow inventors, innovators and creators.
LATEST UPDATE - USPTO is ignoring the SCOTUS ruling against Telebrands!
Josh Malone is the
Inventor of Bunch O Balloons.
Josh was knocked off by a major ASOTV company and has been fighting for his rights to his IP. The battle is because patent laws have been changed.

Josh Malone's story and request |
Recently I thanked Stephen Key for his and InventRight's support of the US Inventor petition! Here is the post from Stephen himself

The patent system in the United States is not what it once was.
Our friends and colleagues have expressed increasing concern over the past few years. We've been listening.
Today, we're asking you to sign the petition for patent reform.
This petition was initiated by Paul Morinville, an independent inventor who has been in Washington D.C. and is now traveling around the country tirelessly to advocate on behalf of all of us. The other champion of this cause has been Adrian Pelkus, President of the San Diego Inventors Forum, who has worked continuously on behalf of independent inventors everywhere.
This petition is also supported by Louis Foreman, President and CEO of Edison Nation as well as Warren Tuttle, President of UIA.
Please, get informed. We'll be doing our part by seeking out and bringing you the best advice and insight possible.
If you've been affected by the new patent laws, we want to hear from you.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Stephen Key and Andrew Krauss, inventRight cofounders
