The Liberty Public Schools Board of Education met for its regular meeting on Monday, November 21, 2016.  Following, is a recap of that meeting:
Meeting Highlights
LHS Cheer Recognized for State Title
The Board congratulated the Liberty High School Cheer Squad for recently winning their eighth state championship in Columbia, MO, earlier this month. Team members were present and thanked by their head coach, Brenda Moats. Way to go ladies!
Student Congratulated for Winning Contest
Lillian Schumacher Elementary third grade student RJ Reece was formally congratulated for winning a contest in which he submitted a video around the topic of, "How to Make the World a Better Place".  The contest, hosted by the Missouri 529 College Savings Plan (MOST), presented RJ with a check earlier this month for $1,500. Great job, RJ! 
Board Business
Board Candidate Workshop Set for December 5

The Board of Education will host a Board Candidate Workshop on Monday, December 5, at 5 p.m. in the 3rd floor Board room of the District Administration Center. The workshop session is to provide information for stakeholders interested in running for a Board of Education seat in April 2017. Board of Education filing begins December 20, 2016, at 8 a.m., with filing ending on January 17, 2017, at 5 p.m.

District Assessment Report Presented
As a brief follow-up report from last month's regular meeting, Mr. Christopher Hand, LPS Director of Assessment, provided the Board an opportunity to ask questions following the detailed information in the LPS annual District Assessment Report. Both Mr. Hand and Dr. Tucker shared that many great gains occurred in student performance and growth and that there is much reason for celebration district-wide. Next Board Meeting Scheduled for Monday, Dec. 19

The Board will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, December 19, at the District Administration Center. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Ways to Stay Informed on Board Happenings

The public has several opportunities to stay informed of LPS Board of Education happenings. Following, are methods in which monthly Board meetings may be viewed.

 

Channel 18 Coverage

Liberty Public Schools Cable Television Channel, KLPS-TV Channel 18, records each Board meeting that takes place on the third Monday of each month and replays the meeting for approximately one week, usually beginning the Thursday following the regularly-scheduled meeting. They will be shown daily at 8 a.m.  Households need to have Time Warner Cable service to receive Channel 18 programming.
