Creepy, Crawly ... Dangerous?

Great numbers of hickory tussocks

We've never seen so many of hickory tussock moth caterpillars as we have this year. These caterpillars, common in early fall, have a reputation for causing rashes that sting for a few days. Spooky as that may be, the caterpillars are an important part of the food chain, keeping plants in check and feeding birds, say the staff at the Keene-based Caterpillar Lab.

Here at the Conservancy we rely heavily on our volunteers. Every year at the Annual Celebration we give awards to a few people who really go above and beyond, but we never forget about those whose efforts go unheralded.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who put in countless hours to make what we do possible. We could not be the thriving organization we have become without you.
