Fall in love...with rescue

Minnie's Miracle Journey...
Say hello to Minnie! Minnie, along with mom, Missy, and brother, Mickey, were among the dogs brought to PetConnect Rescue from Texas in the after math of Hurricane Harvey. Once out of harms way, Minnie thought it would be smooth sailing, but shortly after her arrival, she was diagnosed with a Patent Ductus Arteriosus, a congenital heart defect. Minnie underwent heart surgery this past Monday and is recovering nicely. Though she has a bit of a rough road ahead of her, she is a strong, little pup surrounded by lots of love from her foster family and a commitment from PetConnect Rescue to get her the best care possible. Follow Minnie's Miracle Journey on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter over the next few weeks.

Once PetConnect Rescue commits to caring for a rescued dog or cat, our organization fully commits to helping that animal become healthy enough for adoption. To do that, we need your help. Please consider making a donation to PetConnect Rescue so that our cats and dogs can continue to get any and all care needed.

Wine, Whiskers & Wags Was A Smashing Success!

PetConnect Rescue held its first-ever wine tasting fundraiser Saturday,
Sept. 23rd,  to a sellout crowd. It was a magical night under the stars at the
Old Angler's Inn where a terrific crowd enjoyed good food, fine wine, a silent auction, and the evening's inspiring guest speaker, Wayne Pacelle.
Even some of our adoptable dogs got to enjoy a night out on the town!

Another Great Year At Strut Your Mutt!
Strut Your Mutt Team 2017
Dozer - Lovin' The Attention!
Each year, Best Friends Animal Society organizes local rescue groups to come together to take a walk, a dog walk that is. And, with one goal, to raise money to save the lives of homeless animals.

Thanks to everyone who supported PCR's Strut Your Mutt team. Our alumni dogs had a great time showing off their best strut. In addition to strutting, activities included Doggy Olympics, Musical Chairs, Costume Contests, and much more fun, all supporting and promoting adoption and rescue. PCR alumni joined Dozer, one of our current adoptable dogs. The PCR team raised $1,160 for our rescue through Strut Your Mutt. Donations are still being accepted on our team page here.

A Story Of Inspiration...

Ten-year-old David Oksenhendler, like most kids his age, loves watching silly videos on You Tube. However, one day, David clicked on what he thought would be a funny animal video, which turned out to be a graphic animal abuse video. David was horrified and grief stricken. David's parents, Jason and Natasha, reached out to PetConnect Rescue for help when David insisted on immediately taking action to help animals. They needed to turn David's experience into something positive. The Oksenhendler's had adopted their dog, Donnie, from us in spring 2016 and knew that we'd be able to help. David, his parents, and PetConnect Rescue came up with a way to help everyone involved. David decided to raise money for new rescue dog "welcome kits". Each kit would contain a collar, a leash, starter food, treats, and toys. Jason created a Go Fund Me campaign, and the family got to work putting out a call for help. In a little over a week, David raised $1,000! Last Saturday, David, his parents, his brother and sister dropped off their "Welcome Kits" at Muddy Paws Farm where they got VIP attention from rescues, Miracle and Tia. The Oksenhendlers are now thinking about ways to get involved with animal abuse legislation at the state level. We are so inspired by David and his family for truly turning lemons into lemonade.
