CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ACADEMIC OLYMPIC WINNERS
Thank you to our CCHS students, faculty & administration for their work in putting together this annual event!
The annual Academic Olympics at CCHS for middle school students was once again a competitive yet fun-filled evening. 52 Students from 13 different schools in the Trenton and Camden Diocese participated, along with four middle school teams: St. Paul School, St. Peter School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Resurrection Catholic School.
During the first round the students answered 100 math, science, social studies and English questions. In the second round the top 15 scores from round one competed in a "Jeopardy-like" setting. In the third round the top 3 compete in the finals for registration and book awards.
Schools represented by both teams and individuals: Our Lady of Perpetual Help (team competition winners, pictured above), Resurrection, Raymond Kershaw, St. Margaret, St. Mary Williamstown, St. Teresa, St. Peter, St. Paul Burlington, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Rose of Lima, Our Lady of Hope, St. Cecilia and Rohrer Middle School.

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Camden Catholic Families:
I find it hard to believe that we are already in the middle of November and the end of our first academic quarter. It seems like yesterday when I was welcoming a new class of freshmen to CCHS and telling the seniors what an exciting year this will be for them.
As we progress through this school year. I'd like to remind everyone to check student progress on Ren Web. Teachers are actively posting grades and notes to students where both parents and students can see class progress. Our teachers will be finalizing grades for the first quarter this week, and report cards will be posted to Ren Web under "Student Information." We will send home a Parent Alert via email when the report cards are posted. Please note: we do not send home papers report cards.
Parent Teacher Conferences are after Thanksgiving. During Parent Conferences, no appointments are necessary. All teachers are available for a two hour time frame. Parents will move to the teachers they would like to see. More information will be sent home after Thanksgiving.
Senior parents are reminded to check in with your students about college application progress. While many schools have set a November 15 deadline for early application, we have also set a November 18 deadline in our guidance office. This is to ensure that all supporting documents can be sent out in a timely fashion for your students. Please have your senior check in with his/her counselor if there are any questions about college applications.
I would like to thank the families who came out to our Freshman Class Family Mass on this past Sunday. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our faith together as a school community. Thank you to the members of the Parent's Association who worked to put this event together.
Finally as we look ahead to next week, CCHS will be buzzing with the excitement of Spirit Week. We have been working this past month on a canned food and toy drive which will be followed this week by class "Coin Wars." The planning and coming together of students in each class and the school culminates with Spirit Week during Thanksgiving week. It is a wonderful week where students can show their Irish Pride and recognize what they have done to give back to the greater community outside CCHS. I am very proud of their work and all of their efforts. Encourage your students to get involved in one of the many activities by seeing their level student government moderators.

REMINDERS FROM THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS:
Parking Lot Reminder:
Parents are reminded that they must use the parent drop off lane in the rear of the building to drop off students in the morning to ensure the safety of all students. Please pull forward to the top of the lane so that traffic does not back up into the side parking lot. Do not cut through the student parking area. Students should not exit parent driven vehicles in the travel lanes of the student parking area; this jeopardizes the safety of the students. Also in the morning, please refrain from exiting through the main entrance. Doing so creates a dangerous situation for incoming buses, parents, and staff. Your cooperation is imperative.
Special Dress Down Day:
All students who purchased a special ticket for the Cherry Hill West football game played on November 4, 2016 were granted a dress down day on November 18, 2016. As a reminder, I have included the relaxed day dress code requirements contained in the student handbook for your review:
- Shirts: t-shirts may be worn - no improper messages and no rips or tears
- no sleeveless shirts or tank tops
- no low-cut shirts
- no short shirts - no stomach or waist showing
- no slits in skirts or dresses
- Pants: jeans/sweat pants may be worn - no ripped, frayed, tight or low-cut pants
- NO SHORTS or HATS
- Skirts: girls may wear dresses or skirts within two inches of the knee
- Shoes: sneakers are preferred - No open toed shoes
- Jewelry: see regular dress code
- General Appearance: Students should be dressed neatly and well-groomed. Head covering as hats and full bandanas may not be worn. Sunglasses are prohibited. Boys may not wear earrings.
Please note
: Students who are not dressed properly may receive demerits, be asked to change into a uniform or be sent home. They may lose the relaxed dress privilege for the remainder of the school year.

- All students must take the bus home or get picked up at 2:37 if their coach is not present at dismissal. No students are to remain in the building unattended.

SPIRIT WEEK 2016
Preparations for Spirit Week have started. Please have your student(s) get involved with the different activities from now through Thanksgiving. Classes gain Spirit Week points for events. The class with the most points wins Spirit Week and gets bragging rights for the year.
Powderpuff Football is a flag football game played by the girls. The classes play against each other for Spirit Week points. The event will take place on Monday, November 21st at 7 p.m. under the lights on Shamrock Field.
The Canned Food and Toy Drive is going on now through Friday, November 11th. Each can or brand new toy counts as ONE point towards Spirit Week points. Please send in Canned Food and Toys for Charity.
Coin Wars will be held from November 14-18. This date has changed from the original calendar. The purpose of this competition is to raise funds for a good cause. The student government is still under debate to which charity they want to donate. There will be class jars in the dining hall during all lunches. Pennies count as positive points, silver coins count as negative points. Students are asked to place pennies into their class jar, and "sabotage" the other classes by placing silver coins into the other jars.

Underclassmen
Picture retakes will be on Thursday, 11/17 from 8:30am until 1:09pm (the end of 6th period). Students may go down during any free or lunch period (through 6th period) to get their pictures taken. Order forms are available in the Information Commons.

The Give Something Back Foundation supports high school students in the Diocese of Camden. The following is a list of places recommended by the NHS students that are looking for volunteers for service hours.
Christ the King Regional School in Haddonfield has volunteer opportunities to assist with our 21st Annual 5K Run and Christmas Bazaar on
Saturday, November 19th. Service hours are available in two four hour blocks
7:00am to 11:00am for 5K Run/Bazaar assistance and

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and TeenCERT Programs: a great way for you and your teen over 13 years of age to learn how to help your friends, family and community in times of need. This FREE 20 hour class provides training to people in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. The program is a fun and informative way to learn how to be a more active member in the community and it is a great way to accumulate community service hours. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety and welfare of the community. The

Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown and Collingswood is seeking volunteers for their 6th Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Saturday, December 3rd from 12-3pm. Empty Bowls is an international program that engages participating artists to create and donate handmade bowls in which a simple meal is served to a gathering of caring community members. In exchange for the meal (and the hand-made bowl), guests contribute a minimum donation of $15.00. 100% of the proceeds will be divided equally between the Food Bank of South New Jersey and the Scholarship Fund at Perkins Center for the Arts.

The Contact of Burlington County TEENLINE Needs Volunteers
TeenLine is a teen to teen confidential helpline. It is a safe place where teens can call and talk to a nonjudgmental person of the same age group who is there to listen, support and discuss ways to manage any stresses they are experiencing. Our teen volunteers are trained and mentored in the skills necessary to meet the needs of the caller, including active listening and effective communication. NEW SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
New this year, Procacci Brothers Sales Corporation, one of the largest wholesale produce distributors in North America, and their affiliated farming operation, Santa Sweets Inc., have created a scholarship fund for Hispanic students at Camden Catholic High School. In partnership with the Spanish Sports Network, Procacci Brothers & Santa Sweets have agreed to donate $100 for every Philadelphia Phillies home run during the 2016 major league baseball season. The cumulative proceeds from the Phillies' home run totals will be used to provide renewable financial scholarships for Hispanic students at CCHS. Students that are incoming freshmen during the 2016-2017 school year are eligible to apply for "Estrella Naciente" scholarship. The winners of the scholarship will be determined during the 2016-2017 school year and the recipients will receive their scholarship funds prior to the start of their sophomore school year in 2017-2018.
