President's Message

MCT Members and Friends,

As we move into the holiday season, I am excited to report that the 2016/17 Season is in full swing. Walk in any evening and you will see dancers, the women of Spa De Da rehearsing for Hallalujah Girls along with two lucky men, and some songs from Cabaret being tuned up.  And of course our first show, The 39 Steps is on stage now for two more weeks.  Marilyn Tempest, the director, and her cast and crew have outdone themselves to create a fantastically funny show that will keep you in suspense to the very end. This show is a must see, so make your plans today.  Your last chance will be Saturday, December 3.
I can definitely say that I am thankful for a whole host of folks that keep MCT running.  I am thankful for our four staff members, Anna, Loretta, Ginny, and Paul who are doing the best they can every day to keep the theater running. I am thankful for our active Board that volunteers for all kinds of activities. I am thankful for our directors that spend many months preparing and planning all aspects of productions. Without their efforts, there would be no MCT. I am thankful for all the people that work behind the scenes to make the sets and manage the shows.  I am especially thankful for all of you that attend and spread the word on our productions and contribute to keep MCT open and vibrant. Finally, I am most thankful for the commitment and support of my beautiful wife, Kathy.  You have taken on tasks for me and MCT that are above and beyond what I could reasonably expect. I love you and I thank you!

MCT's Opening Show
A Success

Marathon Community Theatre's (MCT) opening production is a huge success.
The 39 Steps by Patrick Barlow is a Hitchcock spy story that is fast-paced and funny.
Opening weekend attendee, Lindsey Rabito, says, "I am so thrilled to be back at the Marathon Community Theatre for another season with good friends and wonderful entertainment.
The 39 Steps is hilarious and a big thank you goes to the entire cast for all their hard work." According to Julie Joyce, a long-time MCT member, " The 39 Steps is a delightful portrayal by everyone's favorite writer, Alfred Hitchcock.  Once again, the Marathon Community Theatre brings local talent to a new level with this funny play.  The plot is full of laughs along with strange turns of events creating lots of action and very creative sets and props.  With only four actors taking over multiple roles, it is amazing to watch.  The sound and prop team were great.  Bring your friends and family and Thanksgiving guests to the play and be thankful for an enjoyable evening at the local playhouse.  Don't miss this one, it's very well done!"
The 39 Steps runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through December 3 with a Sunday matinee on November 27.  Call 305-743-0994 for reservations
