Food is the largest portion of what's left in our garbage after recycling and recovery programs -- about 18 percent of what goes to landfill. In order to get more food scraps out of our region's garbage, Metro Council said recently they would like to learn more about a possible food scraps collection mandate for businesses.

Their process can accept seedling trays, food trays, coffee cup lids and more -- and they don't need to be clean.
