Seaside Surgery Center celebrates first anniversary
Continues to lead in tech and medical breakthroughs

It's hard to believe Seaside Surgery Center has been open for one year! Time has flown by and we've celebrated many "firsts" along the way. We were the first and are still the only outpatient surgery center in Southwest Florida offering total joint replacements.

Read about our "firsts" in this news release.

Don't tiptoe around foot pain
That bump could be a bunion

A bunion is a bony prominence that forms when your big toe pushes against your next toe, forcing the joint of your big toe to get bigger and stick out. Bunions are a progressive deformity most commonly affecting women, that may or may not present symptoms. While bunions usually affect the inner foot at the base of the big toe, they also can form on the outside of the foot at the base of the little toe, where they are referred to as a bunionette or tailor's bunion.

Like many progressive conditions, non-surgical treatments are often exhausted before surgery is considered. Treatment of bunions can include rest, icing, alteration of footwear, foot supports (orthotics), medications, and steroid injections.

Here are signs that you need to consider surgery:
  • Pain that limits your everyday activities, even with proper shoes
  • Inability to walk more than a few blocks without pain
  • Toe deformity
  • Pain persisting even with anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Bunions not healing, even after a change in shoes or medication
