BREAKING NEWS FOR EMPLOYERS

The Federal regulation to qualify millions more Americans for overtime pay, slated to take effect on December 1, 2016, has been blocked by a federal judge in Texas.  The Labor Department rule would require employers in industries such as retail and food service, among others, to start paying overtime to workers earning salaries of less than $47,476 a year (up from the 2004 ruling of <$23,550).
This injunction was the result of 2 parties opposing the regulation, one a group of twenty-one states and the other, a group of more than fifty businesses.
