Placemaking: ACDC Youth Revitalize Phillips Square

This year's Summer Leadership Academy youth developed and implemented a placemaking project for Phillips Square in Chinatown where residents and visitors shared their favorite memories and qualities of Chinatown using temporary art installations designed by the youth.

The youth presented their project to the Boston Transportation Department (BTD) to make a case for preserving Chinatown, and discussed the future of development in Phillips Square. We are so proud of the inspiring work they have accomplished and look forward to creating more opportunities for young leaders to enact real changes in the community.

Watch the video documenting their project below, made by Amanda Huang.

This year's Summer Leadership Academy was run by Patty, an A-VOYCE alum, who worked to develop the curriculum and facilitate the intensive, daily workshops and placemaking projects. Great to see our former youth continuing to stay engaged. Thank you for your phenomenal work, Patty!
