Sunday Service November 20, 2016

When a change is before us, we often see it as a problem we need to fix.  What does that reveal about us?  Is a fixer a blessing or a curse when we are changing?
Who can fix the  "fixer"?

Worship Leader: REv. Russ Menk
Worship Associate: Sylvia Forsyth

Adult Religious Exploration Program
Sunday, November 20th

On Sunday, November 20, from 12-1 in the Sanctuary, our Adult Religious Exploration program hosts a conversation with Holistic Veterans, a local non- profit focused on finding more healthful, mindful and spiritual paths to deal with issues of suicide, PTSD and sexual assault within the military. The background  of this group is moving and haunting yet the outcome is one of connection and hope. Their story is transformative and shows us that there can be a better way when we're open to new experiences and community. Come share in this amazing experience.

Book Club     November 17, 7:00 pm in the Gallery
The Hour of Land by Terry Tempest Williams
America's national parks are breathing spaces in a world in which such spaces are steadily disappearing, which is why more than 300 million people visit the parks each year. Part memoir, part natural history, and part social critique, The Hour of Land is a meditation and a manifesto on why wild lands matter to the soul of America.

Daytime Meeting for December.
    Gayle's Bakery in Capitola
    Thursday December 15th
                    10am
We are going to try a daytime meeting!
Our December book is the new biography Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen.  It has gotten excellent reviews.
Please join us for coffee, tea, breakfast, or brunch and a good discussion at Gayle's Bakery.

Our book  for January will be
The Last Bus to Wisdom,  by Ivan Doig.  It is the charming story of a twelve year old boy from Montana learning about life in the 1950s.

We are a group of dedicated book folks who meet once a month. Please join us for lively discussions that last about an hour. For more info, call Linda Monk at 724-4089 - or just come and see for yourself.

Welcome Visitors and Guests
Sunday, November 27, 11:30 - 12
4th Sunday of every month in the Gallery

We are a welcoming Fellowship!

We want to get to know you and also for you to have an opportunity to learn about Unitarianism and what happens here at the Fellowship, ask questions and meet others seeking a spiritual home and a sense of community.

Bring your coffee and food from the Hospitality hour after service as this is an informal gathering. All are welcome.

The conversation starter topic will revolve around "what are you looking for in a spiritual home?"

Fellowship History Project Needs You!

As part of our 50th Anniversary Celebration, we would like to update the historical record of the Fellowship. A previous document chronicled our history from early beginnings to the mid 1980's so t he current effort will focus on the last thirty years.

Please let me know if you have old photos or documents about the Fellowship. I will need help scanning photos and making a slide show.

We also need volunteers to write down the stories which may exist only in people's memories: past ministers, facility changes, special events,  etc.

Please contact Bob Bates  ( bates3@sbcglobal.net )
