Recovery Scholarship apps due Aug. 31
StarkMHAR is offering a $1,000.00 Recovery Scholarship for individuals in recovery seeking to advance their education in the behavioral health care field. Applicants must be either an employee of a not-for-profit behavioral health organization located in Stark County, Ohio; or a Stark County resident with lived experience interested in working in the behavioral health field and advancing their education through enrollment in an accredited vocational, technical or college program. World Suicide Prevention Day
Wear purple for World Suicide Prevention Day, Sept. 10
In 2016, 77 people in Stark County died by suicide and more than half of Stark County residents who completed suicide had a mental health or substance use disorder.

Stark County Recovery Week
Celebrate Stark County Recovery Week, Sept. 11-16
Held during national Recovery Month, Stark County mental health and alcohol and drug addiction service providers and organizations are celebrating clients who have or are in the process of getting themselves on the road to recovery.

Each day is new for those who are battling complex brain disease. Reduce the stigma of seeking treatment by promoting the hope of recovery.

Youth & Trauma Training, Aug. 29-30
August 29/30, 2017 from 9:00 AM-4:30 PM: Risk Assessment, Safety Planning, and Crisis Stabilization. Presented by Rick Shepler, Ph.D., this training day will present an overview of risk assessment, crisis stabilization and safety planning for youth with serious emotional disabilities and his or her family. The following topic areas will be covered: risk and safety assessment, crisis functional analysis, safety planning, crisis intervention and working with family systems to assess and re-mediate their escalation patterns. 12.0 CEUs pending.
