November 20th is National Child Day

National Child Day has been celebrated across Canada since 1993, commemorating the United Nations' adoption of two documents centred on children's rights.
Children deserve to be recognized members of our community, and have the right to primary consideration in all decisions and programs that impact them. All children have the right to leisure, to engage in recreational activities and to play. For more information about National Child day, visit highfive.org.

Success Story - "Get On The Go" - Active Living Program
St. Peter's Academy

"On behalf of St. Peter's Academy, Benoit's Cove, NL we would like to sincerely thank you for your generous donation in support of our "Get On The Go" active living and wellness program. Your financial support has certainly helped fulfill our goal of getting students and community members to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. St. Peter's Academy students, during the 2015 - 2016 school year, were provided the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sports such as basketball, volleyball, baseball, ball hockey and cross-country running through a combination of skill development sessions, practices and games. There were also opportunities throughout the year for league play, tournaments and games with other regional schools and community groups.

Program participants improved overall body conditioning, fitness, flexibility, hand/eye coordination and agility while also developing friendship, confidence and sportsmanship in a positive, supportive school environment. It is with your support that we were able to make equipment upgrades, therefore making participation in various sports safer and more enjoyable."
