+ Meet Gary Mitchell,
Nativity's New Interim Musician
We welcome Gary Mitchell as our interim musician! Gary has led congregational song for most of his professional career, having served in Methodist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran congregations throughout Western North Carolina.
Gary comes to us having just completed ten years of service as the Minister of Music and Sacred Arts at First Congregational United Church of Christ in downtown Asheville. He earned his B.A. at Pfeiffer University and his M.A. at Albany State University, both in Music Education. Gary was the Director of Vocal Music for Asheville High School from 1992-2004 and recently directed Beauty and the Beast for the Asheville Community Theatre. Gary is married to the Rev. David Eck, pastor of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Fairview, NC; they have two adult children and one grandchild. We are grateful to have Gary leading us in song during this transitional period and his email address will be [email protected]. Welcome to Nativity, Gary!

+ Welcome back, Corinne!
We welcome Corinne Feid back to the Nativity office! While we are looking for a new Parish Administrator, Corinne has graciously agreed to come out of retirement and help us fill in the administrative gaps. Corinne retired from this position in 2011 after serving for 28 years. We give thanks for her willingness to help in this time of transition. Corinne's email address will be [email protected].

+ Ending well in 2016

With 5 Sundays remaining in this calendar year, we are now in the home-stretch.
As the chart shows, we are most of the way to meeting our giving goal for 2016. In order to end well this year, we need to receive $96,507 in these final two months.  Please complete your pledges for the year, so that we can end well.  (Unpledged gifts are also welcome!)  Thank you for contributing to the ministry of Nativity!

A message from Calvary Food Pantry:
Calvary Food Pantry celebrates with thanksgiving the varied gifts shared as we love and support our neighbors. On November 19, Nativity helped provide Thanksgiving dinners and the regular weekly groceries for 181 families = 667 individuals. Every family received their choice of a turkey or ham and the trimmings for a beautiful Thanksgiving meal. Thanks be to God!

Upcoming volunteer dates for
Calvary Food Pantry:
December 3 from  8:15-11:15
and  December 10 from  12:45-3:45

+ nursery volunteers still needed

We try to make worship welcoming for young families here at Nativity, and one important part of that is to provide a nursery for those children who are too fussy for church. While we provide one staff person for this task, we also support that person with a volunteer assistant. We are now in need of volunteers.

If  you would like to volunteer to spend your time with some very cute and playful children, we ask you to prayerfully consider signing up for a Sunday or two by clicking here .

If you have questions, please call the church office at 828-684-0352.
