November 2016 Newsletter As the year draws near its close, so too does another incredible workshop season at PRC that included globally-recognized healthcare pioneers such as Orsha Magyar, Paul Bergner, Margi Flint, and Jason Robertson. There are still two workshops left this year before we roll into 2017 with 14 workshops already scheduled including the anticipated returns of Dr. Debra Betts, Jason Robertson, Dr. Bruce Ferguson, and Brandt Stickley to name a few. Additionally, we welcome for the first time nutritionist Tom Malterre and herbalists Yarrow and Angela Willard. This year was a banner year for PRC in which we earned numerous honours including 'Professional Business of the Year', the EcoStar 'Social Impact' award, and Surfrider Approved. We also gained program recognition from the Canadian Association for Integrative Nutrition and the Canadian Health Coach Alliance. We anticipate that 2017 will be just as exciting!

Insulin Resistance: Pathophysiology and Natural Therapeutics with Diet and Herbs
Insulin resistance, or the metabolic syndrome, is the root pathology not only of Type II diabetes, but also of heart disease, stroke, obesity, hypertension, several common cancers, and other conditions ranging from polycystic ovarian disease to acne to brittle bones and depression. It is a pathology fundamental to the diseases of civilization. Although the cell level pathology is complex, the roots of this condition are simple. Malnutrition of the basic nutrients that regulate insulin contributes to this pathology, as does a bulk of untrained muscle mass, and imbalances in the carbohydrate content of the diet. Correcting these 3 roots of insulin resistance, along with the use of herbal allies to support balance, can allow some chronic diseases to resolve in a matter of weeks to months.
