THURSDAY FOLDER
News & Information for Greenwood Elementary

11/3/16
From the Desk of Dr. G
Principal's Podcast Crew

So what is the best way to converse with kids about what they're learning in school?! This week's student podcast contains student creativity and some practical advice for parents. (We even had a principal from a school district in Texas visit our school to see what kids are creating....he made a guest cameo in the podcast this week.) Check it out HERE.

As always, if you'd like to see more learning highlights you can always visit our school hashtag (#GWgreats) on Twitter. Many of the pictures and quotes can serve as a catalyst to deeper conversations with kids about their day, and nicely compliment the article I referenced in the video.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Brad Gustafson, Principal

Paws to Do Good
Greenwood's 4th Annual Paws to Do Good service night will be held Thursday, December 8 from 5:30-7:00pm. There are a lot of great charities that we will be helping this year. We need organized individuals willing to oversee the stations prior to the service night. This can be done on your time. If you are interested, please contact Ann at annciardelli@gmail.com.
Bid Green for Greenwood
Bid Green for Greenwood is an on-line auction that will take place in late November and will be a terrific source for holiday gifts. This fundraiser will allow Greenwood families to bid on and purchase unique and useful items donated from our local community while raising money for our school.  Our Time & Talent auction, normally held during our spring Carnival, will be part of Bid Green for Greenwood so look to bid on fun experiences from our Greenwood teachers and staff.  If you own or work for a business that might consider making a donation, please drop them off in the office or contact Michelle at michellemterry@gmail.com with questions.
Treats for Troops
There is still time to send Halloween candy to school with your child for our Military.  KICKS students will collect candy one last time tomorrow morning from 7:30-7:45am in the front hallway. If possible, please sort candy into three bags: chocolate, non-chocolate and Halloween-labeled.
Box Tops Contest
Help Greenwood earn money by turning in your Box Tops for Education labels now.  Students that turn in 25 unexpired Box Tops by Friday morning will be entered in a prize drawing.  Students may enter multiple times per week.  Please neatly clip your box tops and place them in a zip lock bag with a slip of paper noting the student's name, grade and teacher. Entries can be dropped in the Box Tops rolling cart in Greenwood's front hallway. The contest will end on November 18.  The winners of last week's drawing were Benjamin Cohn and Tessa Cherne. Contact Margaret with questions at pipshome@mindspring.com.
