Dear Parents,

Thank you to everyone for making the Walk-A-Thon a huge success. It was an awesome day full of fun, laughs, music, and great memories. We started the afternoon with prayer and the breaking through of the banners by grade levels. Each class decorated banners in art class with Mrs. Held and as their class was announced they broke through the banners and started on their
Walk-A-Thon route. We ended the afternoon with a treat from Rita's Ice and some extra time outside on a beautiful  Fall day. As of today we have raised approximately $17,000 and are well on our way to staying "Cool" this Spring.  A huge thank you to the following committee people whose help made this event a huge success:

Mrs. Whitmoyer
Mrs. Hurley
Mrs. Mignone
Mrs. Ferreira
Mrs. Arone
Mrs. Ruidini

Thank you to all the parents that came and volunteered their time to walk and support us on this special day.

Quote from  Francis:

"The Saints have found the secret to authentic happiness, which lies deep within the soul and has its source in the love of God."

We are all called to be Saints and to live as Jesus did. A Saint is a person recognized by the Church as being holy because of the way he or she lived. A person  who is good, kind, patient, and that has all the virtues that are true examples of the Fruits of the Spirit . We strive to be saint like so that we can have true happiness in Heaven some day with our Lord. As we live each day, let us remember  that it is not the big things that we do but the little things along the the way each day that bring us closer to living saintlike lives.

Faithfully Yours,

Miss Giaquinto

A Few Things...

Morning Drop Off: PLEASE be mindful of the morning drop off procedures. It is highly recommended that you drop off your child in the car line near the Principal. If you choose to park your car, then you MUST walk across to the family center sidewalk and follow the path to the school building.  Please DO NOT cross in  front of the car line. This is dangerous and is a safety issue. So please for the safety of our children and parents I ask that you adhere to the rules.  Thank you.

Tardiness: I have been noticing an increase in numbers of students who are late for school this year. If a student comes to school once the prayer bell has rung at 7:50 am they are considered tardy. The procedure is to stop at the nurse for a tardy slip before going to class.

All Souls Day Rosary
With Fr. Marcello.

Fr. Marcello led the middle school children in a procession for All Souls Day. Rosary beads were given as a gift from Fr. Marcello to each student.  The procession started out from the front of school, through the back field  to the cemetery, where Fr. Marcello led the children in saying a Rosary for all the departed souls. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful experience for everyone in truly living out the Mission of Jesus.  Thank you to Fr. Marcello for all the time he gives to our children.

A Visit From The Superintendent

Dr. Cheeseman, the Superintendent of the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Bridgeport paid a visit to SCSS last Thursday. He visited all the classrooms and spoke to the children about what makes our school special. The most popular responses were: the teachers, we learn about God, and we are a family. The children certainly speak from their hearts!
