New Deadline is November 10th

Have you been meaning to get that donation in but just haven't gotten around to it? Good news! The donation deadline has been extended to November 10th!   Take those wonderful ideas and turn them into official donations by making an online donation or filling out the procurement form.

Fall Band Concert Tonight
Thursday, November 3rd at 7:30 PM 

The Band program will conclude the Fall Concert season tonight at 7:30 PM in the Earl Kelly Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, both playing fanfares. Wind Ensemble will perform Eric Whitacre's beautiful piece "October".  Jazz I and II will be swinging hard with recognizable tunes "The Girl from Ipanema" and "April in Paris". Director Michael James was thrilled to see his largest band to date reflected in a Marching Band of 160 students this fall.

Band Concert Bake Sale
Calling all bakers and cupcake makers

We're looking for donations of baked goods for the Fall Band Concert tonight, Thursday, November 3rd. Don't like to bake? Consider stopping by your favorite bakery and picking up a dozen cookies or cupcakes. Donations can be sent in with your student the morning of the concert (we have a place to store items) or before the concert at the bake sale table (starting at 6:30) in the PAC lobby.  If you are available to sell baked goods before or after either of the concerts, contact volunteer coordinator  Tyson Brown.
Don't forget to bring in those Ballard Market Receipts - BPA receives 1% of all purchases!

Les Misérables Auditions
Tuesday, November 29th 

Please select a song of 16 bars or at least 1 verse and 1 chorus. An accompanist will be provided. Students MUST have sheet music. No a capella auditions will be heard. Students must sign up on the black box doors for an audition time. All students must bring all three completed and signed forms to the audition:

Fantastic Fall Play

Thank you to the fabulous cast and crew of The Foreigner for putting on a hilarious show!  Thank you for braving Stormaggedon during your opening weekend and proving "The show must go on!"

Save the dates for RENT            
December 1st and 3rd at 7:30 PM at BHS

RENT tickets are available now at  showtix4u. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and students. This concert version of the musical RENT is a fundraiser to help purchase more LED lights for the Earl Kelly Performing Arts Center. A portion of the proceeds will be given to LIFELONG - a Seattle AIDS/HIV prevention organization.

Drivers needed for Bremerton Jazz Festival

We are in need of 5-6 Vocal Jazz parents to drive and chaperone for the Bremerton Vocal Jazz Festival on Saturday, November 19 th .  Approximate times are 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

Permission Slips Due Friday, November 4th

Permission slips for the WWU Choral Invitational Festival on Tuesday, November 15th (Concert Choir) and the Bremerton Jazz Festival on Saturday, November 19th (Vocal Jazz) are due tomorrow.

All proceeds go to support Music and Drama at Ballard High School! Purchased items can be picked up at school during the performances or at the BPA meetings. JazzEd Opportunities for Band,  Jazz and Orchestra

JazzED offers payment plans and scholarships to all students who need them, including full scholarships. No family is ever turned away . As an aside we exist to support school music programs , not to compete. As such as we always defer to students' school music commitments.

JazzEd Ensembles, placement on Nov 19 & Nov 20
The award-winning Seattle JazzED Big Band Ensembles are now enrolling kids in grades 6-12, at every skill level. Weekend rehearsals, January through May 2017. Work with legendary jazz educators like Clarence Acox, Wayne Horvitz
, Darin Faul and many more. Top ensembles travel to New York in the spring . Advanced students encouraged to sign up for New Works Ensemble. Scholarships are easy to get and payment plans available to every family. Girls Jazz Day is Sunday, Nov 13 
Join us for one day, 100% dedicated to girls who play jazz. You'll learn new songs in an all-girl band with an awesome female band director. Plus special guest artist jazz drummer Allison Miller of The New School will work with you on musicianship and share stories of being a woman in the jazz industry. The vibe will be friendly, supportive and safe for taking musical risks. Open to grades 6-12, all instruments (including string instruments). Candy Sales Have Begun!
Student Fundraising Opportunity

Candy sales began on Monday and will continue through Monday, November 28th.  Candy bars sell for $1. Students may only check out one case of 60 candy bars at a time.  All money, checks made payable to BPA or cash - NO coins! - is due on Monday, November 28th. Proceeds from candy bar sales will be deposited to each student's individual ASB account to be used for trips, camp fees, annual fees, t-shirts and concert attire.
