UNIVERSAL AVIONICS SYSTEMS CORP. appointed ROBERT RANDALL senior sales manager for the U.S., where he will manage the company's regional sales managers and all authorized dealer sales.
 
GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE CORP. named DAVID PEARMAN general manager of its service center in West Palm Beach, Fla. The company also appointed FABIO REBELLO regional senior vice president of international sales for Florida and Latin America.
 
DUNCAN AVIATION recently completed its second Falcon 900B project with UNIVERSAL AVIONICS' EFI-890R cockpit retrofit upgrade installed. The second aircraft showcases a newly designed interior, paint and fully digital HD cabin/ management/ entertainment system. 
 
Beechcraft Corp. named CUTTER AVIATION's location in Phoenix, Ariz., as an authorized service center for the Beechjet/Hawker 400 XP series aircraft. 

MID-CANADA MOD CENTER announced it is working in cooperation with AEA member company Esterline CMC Electronics on a new flight management system upgrade for the Airbus A310 aircraft fleet. 

EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY appointed LOUIS C. SENO vice president for corporate relations and government affairs. 

ELLIOTT AVIATION named BRIAN SCHANK vice president of sales and marketing. 

GARMIN introduced the GDL 39 3D, a portable ADS-B and GPS receiver that adds simultaneous display of aircraft attitude information (pitch and roll), alongside interactive mapping, traffic and weather within the Garmin Pilot application.

General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in 2009, to inform members and staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and transportation system. To date, more than 200 members of the U.S. Congress have signed on to the General Aviation Caucus. Click below to see if your elected representative is a member. The Federal Aviation Administration recently published its winter 2014 update to the NextGen performance snapshots website. Integrating NextGen capabilities to transform the national airspace system requires the FAA to continuously measure and report its progress.

TSA Publishes Repair Station Security Rule
The Transportation Security Administration recently issued regulations to improve security at repair stations located within and outside the United States. The regulations apply to repair stations certificated by the FAA under 14 CFR Part 145, except repair stations located on a U.S. or foreign government military base. The new rule effectively eliminates the FAA's ban on new foreign repair station certificates. More...

Three Training Courses at AEA in January
Class sizes are limited ... register now to guarantee your seat!
 
In addition to the all-new hands-on Avionics Installation and Integration Training Course set for Jan. 27-29, the AEA continues its commitment to training with a three-course lineup this month.
 
Pitot-Static and Transponder Certification Training Course is set for Jan. 30. Attendees will learn the proper methods for conducting pitot-static and transponder certification testing. This full-day course offers hands-on training, including a regulatory review and an explanation of the proper administrative procedures for completing these critical certifications. It also includes a transponder tune-up course. The contents of this course can be incorporated easily into approved training programs for certified repair stations.

Finally, the RVSM Maintenance and Advanced Transponder Training Course will take place Jan. 31. Attendees will be introduced to the regulations, documentation, test equipment and maintenance practices associated with performing RVSM maintenance and will follow with an in-depth look at Mode S transponders. This course assumes the attendee has good operating knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations 91.411 and 91.413.

All three courses will be taught by Don Dominguez of Radioman Avionics.
