FLIGHT DISPLAY SYSTEMS contributed to the success of NASA's flying observatory, Project SOFIA, by designing and building a custom 20-inch LCD monitor. The monitor was installed in the stratospheric observatory used to monitor infrared emissions from space.
GARMIN has received the European Aviation Safety Agency's validation of the U.S. STC for the installation of the G1000 avionics suite in the King Air 300/350 models.
Jetcraft Corp. and its subsidiary, JETCRAFT AVIONICS LLC, announced ITS HUD Vision Access system is now available for sale and installation on the Bombardier Challenger 604 (CL604). STANDARDAERO announced it is the first authorized Dassault service center to complete the EASy II flight deck upgrade on a Dassault Falcon 2000LX aircraft. A second EASy II upgrade also was recently completed on a Falcon 2000. Both upgrades were completed at StandardAero's Springfield, Ill., facility.

The Alliance for Aviation Across America launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation. AEA Wired will highlight a different state each issue:

General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in 2009, to inform members and staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and transportation system. The AEA is asking repair station members to complete the annual survey for the AEA Rate & Labor Survey. Your input is vital to this annual report, which is a worthwhile benefit for all AEA members. The survey, which is published as a free member benefit, examines and compares shop and labor rates by national and international regions. It also shows employee benefit/compensation package information, a profile of technician experience, regional employment demand and a new business outlook perspective.
This may be the most valuable tool for hiring your next technician or shop manager. Please be assured no company data is made public. Each AEA member company may only take the survey once.
Each month, the Federal Aviation Administration publishes FAA NextGen eNews, a compilation of recent news items related to U.S. national airspace system operations, safety, security, capacity, efficiency and environment. Scheduled immediately before LABACE in Sao Paulo, the AEA's Latin America Regional Meeting is set to begin on August 12 with a full, two-day program including regulatory updates, SMS as required by ANAC, avionics manufacturers' new product information sessions, technical classes from Garmin, Avidyne and L-3 Aviation Products, and exhibits featuring the latest avionics.

Everyone who receives an invitation to participate in the 35th annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey is encouraged to respond. Accurate survey data is critical in developing the Federal Aviation Administration's accident statistics for general aviation and on-demand charter operations. This data is used for FAA planning and forecasting purposes as well.
The survey is conducted on behalf of the FAA by Tetra Tech, an independent research firm, and all survey responses are confidential. A short version of the survey is available for owners of three or more aircraft who receive several surveys. The National Transportation Safety Board recently produced the first in a series of videos on general aviation safety. Kim Stephenson Appointed AEA Secretary

Avionics for NextGen Conference Slated for Sept. 17 in Atlantic City  The third annual Avionics for NextGen Conference will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Sheraton Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J. Produced by Avionics magazine, the event will bring together hundreds of aviation professionals from commercial, business/general aviation and government markets responsible for driving the future of NextGen to discuss their experiences, challenges and solutions with the implementation of these technologies.
Ric Peri, Aircraft Electronics Association vice president of government and industry affairs, will moderate the panel discussion titled, "The Equipage Cliff: What does 2020 Look Like?"
