ROCKWELL COLLINS named CRAIG OLSON vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems. He succeeds JEFF STANDERSKI, who was recently named senior vice president, Information Management Services
 
GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE CORP. will add a new worldwide product support distribution center located in the NorthPort Industrial Park in Savannah, Ga. 
 
SOUTHEAST AEROSPACE released its mobile Parts App, which is designed to assist customers looking for SEA product information, including pricing availability, on their mobile devices. 
 
CONSTANT AVIATION has been awarded the Aruba Certificate of Acceptance. The certification authorizes Constant's Cleveland facility to perform and sign off maintenance for any Aruban-registered aircraft. 
 
DUNCAN AVIATION's avionics and instruments department has expanded its helicopter avionics capabilities by building three new diagnostic test sets in support of products from Northern Airborne Technology LTD, dba Cobham Avionics. 
 
J.A. AIR CENTER will certify Aircell's new ATG-2000 In-Flight Internet and Voice System for the Citation II and Citation Bravo aircraft. 
 
SANDEL AVIONICS was selected for the 2013 California Excellence Award amongst its peers and competitors by the Small Business Institute for Excellence in Commerce. 
 
FREEFLIGHT SYSTEMS announced that Ezell Avionics of Breckenridge, Texas, has completed installation and gained the first FAA Field Approval certification for the RANGR FDL-978-TX and 1201 WAAS/GPS ADS-B Out system in a PA-24-260 Piper Comanche.

General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in 2009, to inform members and staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and transportation system. All-new Hands-on Avionics Installation and Integration Training Course set for January 27-29

The Aircraft Electronics Association plays host to a brand new Avionics Installation and Integration Training Course, Jan. 27-29, at the Dan Derby Center for Professional Development in Lee's Summit, Mo. 

 

The three-day course is for technicians who have completed AEA's Basic Wiring and Avionics Installation Course and/or have a couple years of basic avionics installation practice and are looking for more experience integrating common general aviation installations. Class size is limited, so register now to guarantee a seat. More... 

 

Avionics News Technical Training Exam Now Available

ANTTE Masthead600x266 The 13th annual Avionics News Technical Training Exam is now available online, offering up to eight hours toward IA renewal. The exam may be taken by Aircraft Electronics Association members or downloaded by non-members from the AEA website.   

By completing the exam, which covers regulatory and technical topics featured in the 2013 issues of Avionics News, technicians can get a head start on their FAA-accepted training. 

 

Individuals who complete the exam and score 85 percent or higher receive credit toward IA renewal, Federal Aviation Administration AMT awards and the AEA Avionics Training Excellence Award. More...

Three Training Courses at AEA in January
Class sizes are limited ... register now to guarantee your seat!
 
In addition to the all-new hands-on Avionics Installation and Integration Training Course noted above, the AEA continues its commitment to training with a three-course lineup this month.
 
Pitot-Static and Transponder Certification Training Course is set for Jan. 30. Attendees will learn the proper methods for conducting pitot-static and transponder certification testing. This full-day course offers hands-on training, including a regulatory review and an explanation of the proper administrative procedures for completing these critical certifications. It also includes a transponder tune-up course. The contents of this course can be incorporated easily into approved training programs for certified repair stations.

Finally, the RVSM Maintenance and Advanced Transponder Training Course will take place Jan. 31. Attendees will be introduced to the regulations, documentation, test equipment and maintenance practices associated with performing RVSM maintenance and will follow with an in-depth look at Mode S transponders. This course assumes the attendee has good operating knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations 91.411 and 91.413.

All three courses will be taught by Don Dominguez of Radioman Avionics.
