TRUE BLUE POWER announced the FAA TSO C179a and EASA ETSO certification of the TB17 Advanced Lithium-ion Battery. It is the first lithium-ion engine start battery for business and commercial aviation to receive either certification.
ASPEN AVIONICS announced the EFD1000H Primary Flight Display system will be available as a factory option on the Robinson R22, R44 Raven I, R44 Raven II and R66 helicopters. The EFD500H Multifunction Display system will be available as a factory option on the R44 Raven I, R44 Raven II and R66.

SANDEL AVIONICS released its latest upgrades to the SG102 (MOD2) AHRS, which is a solid-state, three-axis instrument certified for primary heading reference and standby attitude.
ADVANCED HELICOPTER SERVICES announced the acquisition of Cascade Airframe Repair, a longtime helicopter repair services company, based at Boeing Field in Seattle, Wash.

GAMA Announces 2013 Year-end Aircraft Shipment and Billing Numbers
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association recently unveiled its 2013 year-end aircraft billing and shipment numbers at a press conference in Washington, D.C. According to the report, total worldwide general aviation airplane shipments rose 4.3 percent, from 2,164 shipments in 2012 to 2,256 shipments in 2013. Billings for general aviation airplanes worldwide also increased to $23.4 billion, up 24 percent from 2012, when they totaled $18.9 billion. Billings in 2013 were the second-largest number recorded after 2008, when billings were $24.8 billion. More...

Bring Your Customer Day: Saturday, March 15
For the first time in AEA Convention history, and in response to many requests received over several years from the dealer network and avionics manufacturers, AEA repair stations will have the opportunity to invite and escort their customers into the AEA Trade Show Exhibit Hall on Saturday, March 15.
This will be allowed under very strict guidelines. Each customer must be invited and accompanied by a registered AEA repair station representative, and manufacturers may only invite a customer attendee through the dealer network. All customers must be registered either in advance or on-site, and a registration fee of $50 per person will apply. More...

FAA Issues Final Rule to Improve Helicopter Safety
 The Federal Aviation Administration recently issued a final rule that requires helicopter operators, including air ambulances, to have stricter flight rules and procedures, improved communications, training, and additional onboard safety equipment. The rule represents the most significant improvements to helicopter safety in decades and responds to government's and industry's concern over continued risk in helicopter operations.
"This is a landmark rule for helicopter safety," said Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. "These improvements will better prepare pilots and better equip helicopters, ensuring a higher level of safety for passengers and crew." More...

This week-long course is divided into training modules designed for startup repair stations, as well as mature operations looking to improve their understanding of the regulations, perform
internal audits and edit repair station manuals.
Current quality managers, technicians, mechanics and repairmen who are involved in the management of a repair station, as well as individuals looking to establish a Title 14 CFR Part 145 repair station, should plan to attend.
