INTRODUCTION TO INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION
One day program Saturday October 21, 2017 - Atlanta Center for International Arbitration and Mediation (ACIAM)
The aim of this program is to provide an understanding of the general principles of international arbitration and a comparison of the main alternative dispute resolution processes – arbitration, mediation and adjudication. The course will give candidates a basic understanding of the principles of good practice and procedure in international arbitration.
The program addresses the essential features, laws and rules of international arbitrations, a comparison on dispute resolution procedures, the composition, powers and jurisdiction of the arbitral tribunal, statements of claim and defence, organization of the arbitral proceeding, costs and interest, arbitral hearings, and the drafting and enforcement of arbitral awards.
The course is delivered over one day on Saturday October 21, 2017. The day starts at 9:00 am and runs to 5:00pm. Assessment is performed on-line with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, at the candidate's option. A separate fee (not included in registration fee) applies.
Who should attend: There are no entry requirements. The course is intended for lawyer and non-lawyer candidates who are new to the field of international arbitration, wish to learn more about international arbitration and its benefits, or wish to become accredited as an Associate member of the CIArb.
