Food Drive
Peace River Group needs a helping hand in collecting canned food items.  These items will be collected to aid victims of domestic violence. The items will be donated to Viste and Light House Ministries. Please donate non-perishable items by November 4th. Items may be sent into the Front Office marked, "Peace River Center." Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Opportunity for Service Hours

13th Annual Hawks' Scramble Golf Tournament

ONLY 4 days until our golf tourney! Together we can make this the best Hawks' Scramble ever!!! 92 golfers have registered, our goal is 100.  It's not too late to sign up for a day of fun in the sun. Please send your class basket donations in ASAP; we have volunteers coming in tomorrow and Friday to assemble the baskets.

Elks Scholarship Timeline
  • Students don't forget to turn in request for counselor recommendations by Wednesday,  November 9, 2016.
  • Please place the financial portion of the application in a sealed envelope and turn in all materials to Mrs. Regan by Wednesday, November 16th. She will assist you with putting it all together and we will deliver to the Elks before the deadline of November 30, 2016.
News from the Learning Commons
The Book Club is reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and all members (and anyone who wants to join) should have the book before our next meeting, Monday, November 7th. Mrs. Lopez can purchase books for students for $7.
 
The MakerSpace Club is planning a Maker Faire in the late spring. This will be a time for students to share projects they have been working on throughout the year. MakerSpace Club members should see Mrs. Lopez to share their project ideas. So far we have projects involving: Art, technology, clothing, cardboard, health, and robotics.
Calling all engineers and IT workers!!! Please share your knowledge with our MakerSpace members! Please email Mrs. Lopez if interested.
 
The Yearbook Club will meet every other Tuesday after school in the Learning Commons. The next meeting will be November 15th. Parent volunteers are welcomed.

Conference Attendees
Wendy Lopez attended FAME (Florida Association of Media in Education) October 19 - 21st in Orlando, Florida. She was able to attend the Leadership Breakfast and presented a session for independent, private, and religious schools. This year's theme was "Staying Relevant...by moving forward." 
 
 
Ann Becker and Leyzia Maisonave attended FCTM (Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics) October 20 - 21st in Orlando, Florida. This year's theme was "Imagine the possibilities...Mathematics...to infinity and beyond." 
           

 

       
 
Billy Dickerson attended FCSS (Florida Council for the Social Studies) October 28 - 30th in Orlando, Florida. This year's theme was "Survival in a changing world. The importance of Social Studies in a changing world."

Sports schedules are available on our website.

Football:  Last football game of the season will be November 4th, 7:00pm at Out of Door Academy in Sarasota.

Cross Country: 
Our boys cross country team ended their season 14th overall at Regionals in Melbourne on Saturday.  Maddy Werd finished as 8th overall female, while running another 5k PR in 20:19; and advanced to the 1A State Finals this coming Saturday in Tallahassee.  Maddy was the top finisher in Polk county out of both boys and girls.  Congratulations Maddy!
 
Swim:
Kristina Ringley has qualified for the 200 Free and 100 Free at Regionals as well as our 200 Free relay including Kristina Ringley, Nicole Delgado-Velez, Clara Bryne, and Alaina Kleine. They will compete Nov. 5th at 2pm in Orlando at Lake Highland Preparatory.
 
JV Boys' Soccer:
JV practice will be Monday-Thursday from 3:30-5:00pm.  It's not to late to come join the team!

Mandatory Forms Needed to Participate in Sports
All students participating in sports MUST have a sports physical dated after June 1st, 2016. Print the following highlighted links ( EL2 and EL3) and make sure you take the EL2 with you and have it signed by the doctor. Both completed forms must be turned in to the front office prior to participating in practice.
 
Athletic Passes for the 2016-2017 School Year
Adult: $75 per pass, Student: $25 per pass
Good for all SFC home games except playoff games.

Spring Break 2017 Europe Trip
It's Not too Late to Register!
Santa Fe is coordinating a trip to Italy from March 16-26, 2017. The 11-day itinerary includes Rome, Assisi, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Verona, Milan, Genoa, and Cinque Terre. The cost per student is $3,515. This price includes airfare, hotels, breakfast and dinner daily, a tour director, admissions to attractions on the itinerary, tips for the tour director and bus driver. The sign-up deadline is December 1st. Adult family members are welcome as well; there is a $445 supplemental cost for adults. (On the website, the Pisa tour is listed as optional, but we have included it in the above price.) Currently, we have ten students signed up to go on the trip!!
Senior Yearbook Ads
As we begin to prepare for yearbook sales we first need our senior parents to complete the link below to let us know whether they will be purchasing a senior yearbook ad.  
  • It's time to buy senior ads. Even though they are priceless, the costs are listed below. Send completed ads, in pdf or jpeg form, to Mrs. Lopez at [email protected].
    Let Mrs. Lopez know, as soon as possible, if you need help designing the ad or if you have any questions.
  • All ads need to be ordered by Monday, January 31st.
  • The cost of a yearbook is $65. This amount will be discounted if you purchase a senior ad.
  • Full Page Ad$175 ($225 for ad and yearbook)
  • 1/2 Page Ad$90 ($145 for ad and yearbook)
  • 1/4 Page Ad$50 ($110 for ad and yearbook)
