Halloween has come and gone and Thanksgiving is right around the corner! It's a busy time of year and we don't want you to miss a thing! Check out what's going on This Week in North Baldwin:

The event will feature  30 vendors selling everything from clothing and jewelry to pottery and make-up. 

Come on out and get some early Christmas shopping completed! The FREE event will take place 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 3 in the clubhouse and Holly Hills. The first 100 guests to arrive will be given special Swag Bags with gifts inside.

The Mayor's Prayer Breakfast Meets the first Monday of each month.  

Time: 7:30 am - 8:30 am
Light breakfast served at  8:00am

Veteran's Day in 
North Baldwin!

Several activities will be held Friday, Nov. 11, to honor veterans as part of the Veterans Day celebration in north Baldwin. The activities will include a breakfast, parade and special ceremonies throughout the day.

The recognition begins at 8 a.m. with a breakfast at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center in Bay Minette. The breakfast is free and open to the public.

The Baldwin County High School ROTC will post the colors for the event. Police Chaplain Robert Gates will give the invocation.
 
Retired Army Sgt. Matthew Craig will sing the National Anthem and God Bless America.

Mayor Robert A. "Bob" Wills will provide opening remarks at the breakfast and introduce the guest speaker Retired U.S. Air Force Major Jamie Barnes.

Following the breakfast, the annual Veterans Day parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. from Bay Minette Intermediate School. The parade will end at the Eternal Flame on Courthouse Square for a brief ceremony. 

Kay Corley will sing the National Anthem and Retired U.S. Army Major Stephen Sexton will give the invocation. Following a performance of Taps, SFC Todd Jarrell with the US Army National Guard will give the dedication and Corley will sing America the Beautiful.

For the parade, Mabron Williams will serve as the Grand Marshal. Williams was named the Veteran of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3568 in Bay Minette.

Another special Veterans Day ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the Korean War Memorial monument on the front lawn of the Bay Minette Public Library. The ceremony will include the First Call, lowering of old flag and raising of new one, and the laying of the wreath, among other events.

At 2:15 p.m., a ceremony will take place at the William F. Green State Veterans Home in Bay Minette. This event is open to the public.

Alabama Junior Rodeo is coming to Bay Minette, AL, Carol Hodgson Arena Nov 19-20th !  

The AJRA is having a 2 day rodeo for contestants from across the state of AL.  They are currently looking for businesses to sponsor the event.

The AJRA is a non-profit organization and depends solely on sponsorships and donations to produce 12-14 rodeos a year for our contestants in grades K-8th. These rodeos have an average cost of $6,000 each.  The majority of the families in our organization live on a farm or ranch and are raising their children thru agriculture.

Baldwin County United will host the 12th Annual Day of Thanks Breakfast on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, 8:30 a.m., at the Baldwin County Central Annex in Robertsdale, Alabama.
 
The event is open to all Baldwin County citizens at no charge. Breakfast is provided at no cost.
 
In addition to the breakfast, the Baldwin County Commission has proclaimed November 22, 2016 as "Day of Thanks" in Baldwin County.  The Day of Thanks is a celebration "to acknowledge and reflect upon the great achievements, blessings and growing prosperity of Baldwin County, Alabama."
 
Huey Hoss Mack, Sheriff of Baldwin County, will be the keynote speaker for the breakfast. Mack has served as Sheriff since 2007.
 
Sheriff Mack attended Faulkner State Community College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice.  While at Faulkner he was a Student Government Association Representative.  He then attended and graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.  He later returned to Troy and earned a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management.
 
Sheriff Mack went to work with the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in 1985 as a Medical Examiner Field Agent.  He later worked as a Forensic Investigator and was promoted to Chief Forensic Investigator of the Mobile Laboratory.  He holds a Crime Scene Analyst Certification by the International Association for Identification.
 
Sheriff Mack was hired by the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office in 1989 as a Criminal Investigator and was tasked with Crime Scene responsibilities.  In 1995 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant over the Criminal Investigation Division.  In 2004 he was promoted to the rank of Captain and designated the Chief Investigator of the Criminal Investigation Division.  He has served on many task forces to include the US Customs Blue Lighting Task Force, a US Marshall Special Deputy, Baldwin County Major Crimes Task Force, Child Abuse Task Force and as a consultant with many other law enforcement agencies.
 
Sheriff Mack ran for Sheriff of Baldwin County in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 and 2014.
