Michigan Food & Farming Systems (MIFFS) is a statewide, non-profit organization connecting beginning and historically underserved farmers to each other and resource opportunities; ensuring social justice, environmental stewardship, and profitability.

The Women in Agriculture (WIA) Network of Genesee County seeks to create an intentional space to grow meaningful connections between women working in agriculture. WIA works to build knowledge, connections, innovate, problem-solve, and create new opportunities for women interested in finding a livelihood in agriculture.

WIA Network Survey
WIA FDC UPDATE, from Farm Manager Dana Voorheis

What's happening at the farm Dana?
There is a lot happening at the farm. We have notices some cut worm damage to the spinach, brassica salad mix is ready to be harvested, and I have been cleaning up beds lately. And crops are still going into the ground. I put in 3 yr asparagus crowns in couple of weeks ago and onions as an experiment. The strawberries are surviving so far, only spring will tell. A very special thanks to Franklin and Erin from the Local Grocer for all your help and persistence at the farm. We pulled plastic across the hoop house and the new fence netting has kept the deer out for the last 2 weeks. That's always a reason to celebrate.

Contact  Dana at [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering at WIA Farm Development Center.
Your contribution, in any capacity, is welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for playing a critical role in making Michigan farming an attractive and viable livelihood.

Sincerely,

WIA Network
