Description: Join us for a discussion on the development of The Godfrey Hotel in Downtown Crossing, a project that called for the integration and adaptation of two very different adjacent historic buildings into a contemporary hotel. Topics will include: - Architecture and Interiors: Space planning for 232 guest rooms, back-of-house services, and amenity space in two former office buildings - Structure and Code: Integration of two different high-rise structures, one wood and one steel, and how they were brought up to code - Preservation Technology: Working with/preserving existing terra cotta, brake metal, and other historic details within an economical budget - Cost Control: Leveraging earned historic tax credits while balancing preservation and new design elements to achieve a viable project - Design and Brand: Leveraging the building design as part of the brand identity, combining preservation and contemporary detailing to fit a historic neighborhood. The panel will review the project's role in the evolution of Downtown Crossing.
