  • Due to overwhelming demand and thanks to the generosity of the performers, a second set of Hot & Cool Jazz: The Brubeck Songbook featuring The Brubeck Brothers Quartet, Hilary Kole & Michael Bourne has been added for Saturday, November 5 at 9pm. Join author Robert Wyss as he discusses his new biography The Man Who Built the Sierra Club, A Life of David Brower, a central figure in the modern environmental movement. Brower's vision of the wilderness forever changed how we approach nature. Brower transformed the Sierra Club into a national force that stopped projects that would have dammed the Grand Canyon and destroyed hundreds of millions of acres of wilderness.  More info & register

Please join Jane Alexander -- a much-admired activist, wildlife conservationist, former chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts, four time Academy Award nominee, and Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress -- to hear about her new inspiring book Wild Places, Wild Things. The book discusses the changing world of wildlife as a result of human incursion, and the crucial work of animal and bird preservation being done by scientists, field biologists, zoologists, environmentalists, and conservationists. More info & register

New Perspectives Film Series: Supermensch - The Legend of Shep Gordon

In his directorial debut, Mike Myers documents the astounding career of Hollywood insider Shep Gordon in Supermensch. Gordon became a beacon in the entertainment industry having managed an endless list of talent, including Alice Cooper, Blondie, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, Groucho Marx, and Raquel Welch. Suggested donation of $5. Hot & Cool:  Jazz at the Brubeck Room - 9 Horses
Sunday, November 13 @4pm
9 Horses, formed in 2013, is comprised of Joe Brent (10-string mandolin), Sara Caswell (violin and Hardanger fiddle), and Andrew Ryan (bass). Each brings a unique element to the ensemble: Brent's mandolin recalls the sound of Americana and folk music; Caswell is likewise an extraordinary jazz musician; Ryan is a virtuoso improviser in several styles. Candlelight Concert at the Wilton Congregational Church, Wei  Luo

Wei Luo, an award-winning pianist, will present a program of Haydn, Chopin, Shostakovich, Schubert, and Beethoven. All performances are on Sunday afternoons at the Wilton Congregational Church, 70 Ridgefield Road, Wilton. A portion of the proceeds benefits Wilton Library. Meditation Box Craft

In coordination with Silver Hill Hospital, and to kick off the circulation of our Mental Health To-Go Kits, participants can decorate plain white boxes, using the collage method, and learn about art therapy in the process. The box will also contain a stress ball, silly putty and a flash drive with pre-loaded meditations to start you on your way to filling your boxes as a stress relief tool. Materials supplied by Silver Hill Hospital. Appropriate for teenagers to seniors.  More info & register
