OLMA Sophomore, Violet Bifulco is part rock star, part athlete, part farmer and all-around great girl who hopes to pursue a degree in Business when she graduates from OLMA in 2019. In the meantime, though, she's staying good and busy here at OLMA. In fact, it wasn't long after her she joined OLMA that Violet took the lead in adding an instrumental section to Chorus. "Adding instruments, like the drums, helped us broaden our song choices," she said. "In the last year, Chorus has grown a lot. I think it's because everybody's having fun with the music, which is great."
Violet has been playing drums since she was a little girl. "My mom wanted my brother and I to each play an instrument," she said. "He was gong to play the drums and I was going to play the piano. Piano was okay, but after my brother's practices, I would get on the drums and play, so we switched places." Violet also plays the guitar and performs with friends, including OLMA's Ashley Iveson, as part of a small band. Violet says that music is a great stress reliever -- and lots of fun.
Speaking of fun, Violet also spends a lot of time helping out with the family business, Bifulco Farms. "We grow lots of different vegetables and do re-packing too," she said. "That's where I spend my summers and I really enjoy it." So much so, that she could see herself taking more of a leadership role on the farm one day, which is one of the reasons a business degree may be in her future.
Violet says that she loves OLMA and that she is the latest in a long line of relatives who attended school year. "I like that it's all girls and that there's such great cameraderie," she said. "We all have our best friends, but feel at home with everyone." OLMA's Chorus Angelorum will be performing at Open House next week, so stop on in.
