SAN ANTONIO, TX (Ordinance 2016-10-13-0802) SanAntonio
On October 13, 2016, the City Council of San Antonio, TX passed Ordinance 2016-10-13-0802 which amends the city's film incentive program as provided below:
  • Authorizes the Film Commission to implement the following:
    • Increase the current rebate from 2.5% to a minimum of 7.5%;
    • Establish a per project cap;
    • Remove the preliminary requirement of approval at the state level;
  • Allows the Film Commission, together with the city, to assess and potentially waive fees for filming in San Antonio; and,
  • Takes effect immediately.

Senate Bill 6987 proposes to amend the film production tax credit program by adding 12 Counties in which a production company may earn an additional 10% on below-the-line salaries and wages for services performed within the county. The additional 10% is available for the period 2015 through 2019.
