On November 15th we will be starting our 'No Corkage Fee Tuesdays'. If you have a special bottle of wine home that you want with dinner, bring it in, no corkage fee. We will do this every Tuesday.

Employee Spotlight
Jason Webster, Server
By Paula Alter, Asst Manager

How many of you remember the first Chuck E Cheese on Harry L Drive? Did you ever wonder who was inside that mouse costume? 23 years ago it was Jason Webster, commonly referred to as 'Webster' by us. He is a son of a Singer Link employee and a Binghamton High School retiree. Jason was captain of this high school varsity lacrosse team at Vestal and graduated in 1995. He contributes his work leadership and team skills to his participation in school sports.
Jason attended Suny Oneonta with intentions of coaching. Currently he uses those skills by mentoring young busboys on work ethic and organizational skills.
Jason was part of the serving staff when Lampy's opened it's doors in 2004 under the management of Dean Bixby. Opportunity knocked again and Jason moved to NYC determined to attain more cuisine and libation knowledge. This enable him to take his ability of 'good' service to 'great' service. Working at the finest fine dining restaurants in Manhattan offered exposure of his talents. His personal famous claim to fame was in a verbal segment of the Al Roker Radio Show on FoodNetwork. Jason was managing a Mediterranean Pizza House that offered pizza by the inch, which was the main feature on the show!
Upon returning to the area, Jason took his talents to Remliks and then joined our staff again shortly after. He is now considered one of the hardest workers by everyone here. His dedication to hospitality is surpassed by his eloquence and fantastic service; his numerous requests nightly reflect that.
Though he is not flawless, Webster is ingenious, energetic, perceptive, and very loyal. He would definitely take a partner to the win on Amazing Race. And on a sidenote, his creativity has added to all of our great Holiday decorations.
When he's not working, he enjoys fishing, golf, and Conan O'Brien. He is passionate about college and professional football, favoriting the Giants, Syracuse University, and Oklahoma. He loves steak and the Grateful Dead, but mostly he loves his 16 year old son, Quinn who he describes as awesome! Quinn is also a lacrosse team captain like his father!
Webster is my Number 1 pick this month and every day. I hope we are yours!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow, where did the year go? Holidays are just around the corner, with Thanksgiving  almost upon us. Now is the time of year when folks start asking me for suggestions on what to  drink with their upcoming holiday dinners. The answer is complicated.
A typical Thanksgiving dinner has a huge roast turkey at it's center. Surrounding the bird  is a dizzying array of other foods. Green bean casserole, stuffing and/or dressing (NOT gonna  get into which is which), cranberry relish, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn bread, corn, etc. etc.  Quite the feast!  The problem is that all these foods can have different levels of spice, flavor, and  complexity. We need a drink that can tie them all together. Something that works well really  well with turkey (he is the star after all) but can get along with the rest of the table.

Chardonnay? Good with turkey but can get lost among all the other goodies. Not gonna  work.  Zinfandel? Works with a lot of the goodies but can over power the bird. If we spiced and  deep-fried the turkey we could have a winner. Do people still fry turkey around here? Out.  Cabernet Sauvignon? NO!  Pinot Grigio? Interesting, and a possible match. Goes well with the turkey and all the  other food. Wait, some people HATE Pinot Grigio. Not sure why, but we don't wanna get Pop- Pop upset over wine do we? Sorry, close but no cigar.  Riesling? Can vary degree of sweetness depending on what folks like. Goes great with  turkey. Goes well with all the other foods. Is lower in alcohol so nobody gets too loopy. Is  inexpensive, so you can load up. Has the acidity to cut through and keep things fresh. Especially  important for marathon dinners. WINNER!

If you happen to be having your Thanksgiving day feast at Lampy's or #5 we have the  perfect choices for you. Funf Riesling from Germany is fantastic. Just sweet enough without  being clingy, with tons of fruit flavor and a wonderful refreshing acidity. Wanna support New  York? Try Ravines semi-dry Riesling located in Geneva and Hammondsport, New York. In the  drier style, Ravines has juicy citrus notes on top of the crisp apple flavor. The acidity gives it a  clean yet vibrant finish. Perfect for keeping your palate alive through a multi course meal.

Another suggestion is hard ciders. They have the same crisp refreshing attributes as  Riesling with their carbonation. Additionally, they have an excellent range of dry to sweet.  Angry Orchard is available at #5 in the bottle No matter what you choose, have a safe and happy holiday! And don't forget to help  mom clean up!  Enjoy!
