Stallions in the Spotlight

Last Thursday at the Pregnancy Decision Health Center's Life and Liberty Celebration featuring keynote speaker Lt. Col. Oliver North, members of the Stallions for Life Club assisted PDHC in welcoming and checking in the more than 800 people who came to the fundraising banquet held at Villa Milano. PDHC's mission is to provide care and support for abortion-minded women and help them choose life for their unborn child.

Senior Jamil Baransi received an Award of Excellence for his participation in the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston this past July.

The Business Club welcomed Matthew Shaffer, founder of Shaffer Capital, as a guest speaker to the club. Among other subjects, Mr. Shaffer shared his journey on how he started his own investment firm. Pictured are a few of the Business Club officers, Mr. Shaffer and club advisor, Mr. Jeff Montenaro.

It was wonderful to have so many of our grandparents in our building last Friday for the Fall Grandparents Day breakfast and mass. We are looking forward to celebrating again in the Spring (with students last names M-Z)!

"Giving the Last Lecture" is a shortened version of the "Last Lecture" presented by Professor Hums by invitation of ND Student Government in 2010 in Washington Hall. It is modeled after the original "Last Lecture" presented by Dr. Randy Pausch at Carnegie Mellon in 2007 several months before he died. "Last Lecture" asks the speaker to answer one question in the form of an engaging public lecture: "If this were your last time to address a group of students, what would you say?" In Dr. Randy Pausch's lecture he talks of how to enable your own dreams and helping others achieve their dreams. Please click here for more information about this free event.
Say Oui (Yes!) to Hosting

The World Languages Department at DeSales High School is pleased to announce the annual exchange program with our sister school in Normandy, France. In this year's exchange, students from Institution Saint Joseph in Le Havre, France will come to Columbus for two weeks in mid February 2018 (February 17 - March 2, subject to adjustment). They will be hosted by DeSales families, visit Watterson and DeSales classes and go to cultural, educational, historical, sports and entertainment venues in and around Columbus.

Therefore we are in need of families who would be willing to host a student in their home during their visit. There is no fee associated with hosting a French Exchange student; all that needs to be provided is a place to stay, meals with your family and a sack lunch on most days. The Exchange students will report each day to DeSales with your current student and depart with them at the end of the day.

Please contact Mrs. Heather Evans if you are interested in hosting a student at evans@desales.co or your student can see her in room 121 to receive the necessary paperwork.

Daily Reflection

Lord Jesus, please grant me hope in times of hardship, faith in Your promises, life-giving and true, belief in Your love unfailing, And desire to share these gifts coming from You. Amen.
