FAFSA Filing - New Filing Process Training

As you may have heard, there have been changes to the application process for financial aid. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in the past opened on January 1st for the upcoming academic year. Staring with the 2017-18 FAFSA, the new opening date will be October 1. Applicants are also required to use their tax information from two years prior. This means students filing the 2017-18 FAFSA will use the 2015 tax and income information. Students will also be able to take advantage of the IRS Data Retrieval tool, which can simplify the process and help avoid common mistakes. In addition, this change will move the UNCG Priority Filing Date to Thursday, Dec. 1. Students interested in Work Study or other limited institutional grants should plan to complete their FAFSA by Thursday, Dec. 1.

Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, Bryan 211, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
