Proposition Information
The election is (finally) almost over - but before you cast your vote, there are two propositions whose outcomes could have major impacts on businesses/employers in the state.  Proposition 205 is the Recreational Tax of Marijuana Act, legalizing the recreational use and sale of marijuana with significant changes to employment practices surrounding enforcement of drug testing programs.  Proposition 206 is promoted as a Minimum Wage Law but contains concerning language and requirements for Paid Sick Time for Arizona employees that could create major challenges for employers.  Please visit the links to read more and access additional information on each of these Propositions.
Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention

CFMA's National Executive Committee has formally created the CIASP Task Force, which will serve to engage other industry associations in the suicide prevention efforts, create educational tools and resources for companies to implement in house, and help engage other CFMA chapters in hosting summits and outreach events.  Michelle Walker is chair of this national task force, with Dave James leading up the chapter outreach efforts and Marj Weber working on education/resource creation.  The entire VoS chapter should be very proud to be leading the way on this life-saving initiative.  We encourage you to visit the CIASP website to view alliance members and  check out the resources available - including all of the posters, ready to print for your offices & jobsites, newly trans-culturized into Spanish!

Young Construction Financial Professionals

Valley of the Sun's YCFP group has done a great job of building not only an exceptional group of young leaders within our CFMA chapter, but also in building relationships with young professionals in other construction associations.  On October 20, they held their first join-association mixer.  Congratulations to Eric, Randy, Danielle, Cliff and the rest of our YCFPs!

Save The Date
Our December "program" will be a highly educational event held at the Culinary Dropout in Tempe.  Make sure you mark Tuesday, December 8th from 5 - 8 pm on your calendar now so you don't miss out!  More info coming soon.
